Once the San Francisco 49ers got Brock Purdy back from a turf toe injury, there was no need for Adrian Martinez on the active roster. On Tuesday, after clearing waivers, Martinez signed back to the team’s practice squad.
During a conference call on Monday, head coach Kyle Shanahan said the team still intends to open the practice window for rookie quarterback Kurtis Rourke:
“Yeah, we’ll open up his window eventually to give him his three weeks of practice and decide what to do from there. Then Adrian, we’re waiting to see if he clears waivers to see if he’s an...

The San Francisco 49ers had a blowout win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, improving to 7-4 and turning things around after getting beaten big against the Los Angeles Rams the weekend before.
San Francisco got off to a fast start from the opening kickoff, which Skyy Moore took 98 yards to set up a one-yard Christian McCaffrey touchdown run. That parlayed into a quick 13-0 start, and the 49ers were up 25-10 by halftime. Fast-forward to the end of the third quarter, and San Francisco added 10 more points to its lead before ultimately winning 41-22.
It was a...

Weeks ago, the history the 49ers were making was games without an interception. This is history that is much more satisfying. And it’s a history that started with Hollywood.
Brock Purdy finished Sunday’s 41-22 win over the Arizona Cardinals 19-26 (73 percent completion), 200 yards passing, three touchdowns, and a passer rating of 133.5. So while Purdy’s stat line may be a bit pedestrian, two of those touchdowns made history because those two pushed him to 23 touchdown connections with tight end George Kittle. So, what does 23 touchdowns mean? Well, that puts them past Steve Young and Brent Jones...

The San Francisco 49ers got back into the win column with a convincing win over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. Yes, the Cardinals are depleted by injuries, but the 49ers’ offense resembled some of the good old days with Brock Purdy under center and his weapons healthy. For the first time in 2025, the offense scored 40-plus points, which is a good sign for a team that will need to score to lead it to victories down the stretch. The defense allowed yards, but came up with timely turnovers and stops. That will be the formula for the 49ers to...

Jacoby Brissett now has the most completions in an NFL game with 47. That might be the only good thing coming for the Arizona Cardinals after their 41-22 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, but it also might say a lot about the issues the 49ers face going forward.
Despite a few strange balls from Brock Purdy that could have (and probably should have) been intercepted, the offense was humming. The 49ers’ special teams also showed up with an impressive return to start the game—and some mistakes later. So four quarters later, the Cardinals get 22 points while the 49ers...

You don’t get any extra points for style in the NFL. All wins are equal, but the 49ers’ blowout victory over the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday was different for several reasons.
The 49ers have shown their grit throughout the season, with the majority of their victories amid a slew of injuries being close-run grind-it-out contests, though they were comfortable in beating in the New York Giants in Week 9.
But the demolition of the Cardinals was the type of game for which San Francisco had waited all season, the 49ers enjoying success in areas in which they have struggled consistently...

The San Francisco 49ers are sitting at 7-4 after beating the Arizona Cardinals 41-22 over the weekend, bumping them back into the playoff picture as the No. 7 seed in the NFL.
After a 3-0 start, the 49ers have alternated games the last eight weeks, going 4-4 during that period while failing to rack up consecutive victories. But, they have a prime stretch ahead of them to put some distance in the playoff race and increase their chances of making the postseason.
Following the win over the Cardinals, San Francisco now returns home to face the Carolina Panthers on Monday...

49ers’ Kyle Shanahan questioned about Christian McCaffrey’s late-game usage in blowout win (paywall)
“Shanahan said the specter of blowing a massive lead was on his mind Sunday. He mentioned the Broncos’ 33-32 win over the Giants this season when Denver rallied from an 18-point hole with less than six minutes left. He recalled how the 49ers beat the Lions 41-33 in the 2021 regular-season opener after Detroit nearly staged a wild rally. The 49ers led by 24 points with two minutes left, but the Lions had a first down at the 49ers’ 25-yard line with 32 seconds left with a...

Welcome back, Brock Purdy! For the first time in 2025, the 49ers topped 40 points in a blowout victory over Arizona. The game opened with a huge special teams play from Skyy Moore, and in the blink of an eye, the 49ers had a 7-0 lead after one play on offense. The 49ers never looked back after that. Sunday’s game was filled with rarities; the Cardinals tied a franchise record with 17 penalties, and Jacoby Brissett set the NFL record for completions in a single game. Speaking of rarities, the 49ers caused three turnovers, including two interceptions. Add it all...

The injury bug bit the San Francisco 49ers again on Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. Linebacker Tatum Bethune has a high right ankle sprain and will miss a few weeks, according to Kyle Shanahan. Since the team has a bye week coming up in three weeks, Bethune will not be placed on the Injured Reserve.
Bethune has been a plus run defender since being inserted into the starting lineup in Week 7. He’s among the league leaders in tackles at linebacker during that span. Curtis Robinson filled in for Bethune, who was filling in for Fred Warner. Robinson will likely...

When the band gets back together and faces a weaker opponent, the outcome is 41 points. The San Francisco 49ers looked like an upper-echelon offense with Brock Purdy under center. Things came easily for everyone involved, including George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey. Kyle Shanahan had the offense on cruise control, despite only one reception from Ricky Pearsall.
Here are Week 11’s Winners and Losers.
Kittle caught all six of his targets for 67 yards and a touchdown. Twenty-seven of those came after the catch, and both of Kittle’s touchdowns were on downfield throws. It’s the...

While the Arizona Cardinals did as much as possible to make life easy for Brock Purdy on his return from injury, the 49ers quarterback’s performance was still worthy of great praise, and he received plenty from his offensive teammates following their 41-22 win.
Though Purdy didn’t have to put too much pressure on his troublesome toe in terms of scrambling and extending plays, there was no sign of it hindering him as he completed 19 of 26 passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns.
Purdy has had a long time on the sideline as Mac Jones kept the 49ers’ playoff...
