The San Francisco 49ers are 9-4 with a bye week in Week 14. During an interview on KNBR, general manager John Lynch said he called the Baltimore Ravens, who have had a Week 14 bye multiple times in previous years, to gauge how they felt about having one so late in the season. Lynch said they loved it because they were a healthy team, and it allowed the Ravens to get a fresh start going into December.
As head coach Kyle Shanahan said on Monday, the bye week will allow the Niners to get back their kicker, a rotational defensive...

There have been a lot of brilliant coaching performances in 2025. Mike Vrabel has transformed the Patriots into the AFC’s most-fearsome team, Ben Johnson is turning the Bears into a contender, and Shane Steichen has unlocked Daniel Jones on the Colts, to return them to prominence. As good as these performances have been, Kyle Shanahan has been better — and as it stands he’s being criminally underrated.
At time of writing Shanny is currently 8th in odds to win AP Coach of the Year on Fanduel, nestled between Liam Coen of the Jaguars and Sean McVay in Los Angeles. Granted,...

The San Francisco 49ers had a nice 26-8 win over the Cleveland Browns this weekend to take them to 9-4 heading into a much-awaited bye week.
It wasn’t the prettiest day. The 49ers were dealing with wind, struggled in the run game on both sides, and were in a 10-8 battle at halftime.
But, behind some quality play from quarterback Brock Purdy and some well-timed turnovers, San Francisco got a nice victory and is in the playoff picture heading into Week 14.
Purdy’s stat line wasn’t the biggest deal. He completed 16 of 29 passes for 168 yards, one touchdown,...

The NFL announced on Wednesday morning that five individuals have reached the final stage across three categories for a potential introduction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame:
Robert Kraft (Contributor)
Bill Belichick (Coach)
Ken Anderson (Senior)
Roger Craig (Senior)
L.C. Greenwood (Senior)
Craig, who played the majority of his career for the San Francisco 49ers, is one of only three NFL players to amass 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same season, which happened in 1985. One of the other players to do it is in the Hall of Fame. And besides Marshall Faulk, the other is an...

As improbable as it may seem, the San Francisco 49ers have an outside chance at obtaining the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoffs. There’s roughly a 26 percent chance of the Niners winning the NFC West. One more slip-up from the Rams, and we can begin to have a serious conversation about both, so long as Kyle Shanahan and company continue their winning ways.
Let’s go through the postseason probabilities for the 49ers as they head into their bye week.
If the playoffs started today, the 49ers would play at SoFi...

49ers minutia minute: Clelin Ferrell’s big game included career high in tackles (paywall)
“Robinson reached 19.66 mph on his 6-yard end-around carry, making him the team’s fastest ball carrier on Sunday and its second fastest ball carrier this season (Skyy Moore hit 19.7 mph on a Week 11 kickoff return). We’re still waiting for a 49ers ball carrier to crack the 20 mph mark.”
49ers overreactions: Has adversity shaped team into legit playoff contender?
“The 49ers missed 15 tackles, according to PFF, and 106 of Cleveland’s 138 rushing yards came after contact. Yet, when the 49ers needed a big stop,...

The Houston Texans waived veteran offensive lineman Laken Tomlinson, who will now go on waivers. Tomlinson would have to make it to the San Francisco 49ers, which is very well possible.
It’s always fascinating to see how a team that watched Tomlinson play the year prior talks about him compared to the team that might get him. Texans fans rejoiced on Twitter after no longer having Tomlinson on the roster. Tomlinson, now 33, was starting for Houston as recently as Week 9. He had been a healthy scratch since.
Tomlinson, one of the nicest and most professional people in the...

The San Francisco 49ers won in all three phases against the Cleveland Browns. Down the stretch, the 49ers imposed their will and only allowed eight points on defense. Yes, the Browns offense isn’t a juggernaut, but the physicality on defense was on display. Offensively, the 49ers put up 26 points on the second-ranked defense in the NFL in windy and cold conditions.
Here are two players who bounced back on Sunday.
Offense: Brock Purdy
This one feels obvious. After throwing three interceptions on Monday Night Football, the worry about a short week against a stingy Cleveland defense with potential weather...

The streak is over. The San Francisco 49ers won their first game in Cleveland since November 11, 1984. Kyle Shanahan and his offense defeated Jim Schwartz’s defense. Brock Purdy played well in a cold-weather game. The narratives fell one by one with a 26-8 victory over Shedeur Sanders and the Browns. Now, the 49ers enter their bye week at 9-4 with four games remaining and in the driver’s seat for a playoff spot in the NFC. All things considered, it is hard to imagine a better scenario.
Here are the snap counts and grades from Sunday’s game, according to Pro...

What will the San Francisco 49ers get in Eric Kendricks? For head coach Kyle Shanahan, it’s too early to tell:
“Yeah, I definitely think he has a chance to, that’s why we liked him coming here. But you know, last week we had three days, and it was a short week, and we didn’t do anything really full speed. So, those were his first full practices getting back since last year without having an offseason, and he looked good in those three practices. I know it’ll be good for him to have this Bye Week to continue working out...

During Sunday’s postgame, Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Shelby Harris lashed out at San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who apparently crossed the line of trash-talking.
Harris wasn’t the only Browns defender to speak up. Myles Garrett took the podium on the subject. Here’s what he had to say:
I can’t speak for how he was raised, but if you’ve got nothing good to say, don’t say something to somebody. He had a lot to say that was demeaning and disparaging towards some of our players. I was just trying to separate everybody. I tried to go up and...

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch was asked whether he had a realistic belief that Brandon Aiyuk would play for the team this season:
Realistic? I’m not sure. Hopeful? Yeah. That’s kind of where I’ll leave that. He continues to rehab. Hopefully, like I’ve always said, we’re a better football team when Brandon’s out there. I hope that’s the case. I think that’s probably what it is, is hope right now. I wish it were a little bit more than that.
That does not sound like a front-office member expecting the return of one of the best players...
