This is not a bunch of woulda, coulda, shoulda. The 49ers were scheduled to play on Saturday, and they lost 13-3 to the Seattle Seahawks that night. Lost is not the right word: they got suffocated Saturday. It doesn’t help matters when offensive tackle Trent Williams and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall are both out for the game. Two valuable pieces on offense are missing when one of the best, if not the best, defenses in the league is coming to town.
The thing is, they may have been able to play. Well, if the game was on Sunday, according to...

Fooch has the strutting pony that we all have for when the San Francisco 49ers win. When things don’t go our way, I give you angry John Lynch:
If anything sums up the 49ers fans’ thoughts on their 13-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, it’s that emotion right there. That reaction happened on a third and 17, where it looked like the 49ers were going to stop the Seahawks well short of the markers. That did not happen. Instead, what happened was something we have come to know as the “Saleh Special.” A toss to Kenneth Walker:
So we have...

What Kyle Shanahan and others said after 49ers’ 13-3 loss vs. Seahawks
“You talked a lot about wanting to stay here and not go back on the road, and now you know that you have to. What’s the feeling and what have you said to the team?
“Oh, we’re ready for it. I mean, yeah, it would’ve been nice to have a home game here or both home games and get a Bye. But, it is what it is. I mean, this team’s been through a lot this year. Now we’ve got to do it the hard way and we’ll...

The San Francisco 49ers will wear their all-black rival jerseys tonight against the Seattle Seahawks. Brock Purdy and the offense won’t have their most dangerous wide receiver or all-everything left tackle.
The Seahawks are already stingy enough, but being short-handed at two of the most critical positions will make Kyle Shanahan, Brock Purdy, and everybody else’s job on offense much more challenging.
If there’s anybody who can devise a game plan without Trent Williams and Ricky Pearsall, it’s Shanahan. George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey will earn their paychecks tonight. McCaffrey might catch 15 passes if that’s what it takes for...

The San Francisco 49ers’ inactive list is out. A feel-good story ahead of the game is that longtime announcer Greg Papa plans to return to the 49ers radio booth for the Seattle Seahawks game. The voice of the Niners has missed the entire regular season thus far while battling leukemia. He was slated to return last week against the Chicago Bears on Sunday night, but had to cancel at the last minute. He will be back tonight.
That’s the good news for the Niners. The bad news is they’ll be without their left tackle and WR1. Here are the inactives:...

The San Francisco 49ers made a couple of transactions ahead of tonight’s matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. With Trent Williams’ status in question, the 49ers are elevating offensive tackle Brandon Parker from the practice squad.
The thought is that if Williams can’t play, Austen Pleasants will start. The only other offensive tackle on the roster with experience who isn’t starting is Spencer Burford, who is currently starting at left guard. So, that’s where Parker comes in to play, as the swing tackle.
Parker’s elevation isn’t a good sign for Williams’ availability, although it always seemed like a long shot that...

The Carolina Panthers are 7-2 in close games, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are 5-6. Both teams are in the bottom 20 in point differential. Tampa Bay is 31st in average margin of victory, while the Panthers are 29th. The NFC South, everybody.
We have ourselves as close to a play-in situation as it gets between the Panthers and Buccaneers…kind of. As we discussed in the NFC Playoff picture ahead of Week 18’s games, the Panthers could lose this game and still make the playoffs. They’ll need some help from the Atlanta Falcons.
Tampa Bay needs a win and the...

Death, taxes, and the NFL poaching the San Francisco 49ers’ staff. These are absolutes in life. We’ve talked about how defensive coordinator Robert Saleh is a hot coaching candidate for 2026 ad nauseam, but Saleh isn’t the only one other teams may look for.
Albert Breer mentioned in his MMQB post on Friday that two 49ers executives were candidates for a general manager position in the 2026 hiring cycle. GM vacancies aren’t as prominent as head coach vacancies, but there should be a couple of spots opening up, as there are every year.
Breer had two tiers of candidates. There...

Saturday night’s game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Seattle Seahawks will be full of overreactions. Whichever teams win will be prematurely crowned, while the loser will be treated like a team that doesn’t deserve to make the postseason.
Here’s how we believe tonight’s game will go.
There’s nothing that I can tell you that wasn’t already shared during the game preview. These are two of the hottest teams in the NFL and two of the best teams in the league.
If you were ranking the top five units in the NFL,...

The stage is set. Saturday night, the San Francisco 49ers will take the field in their rivalry uniforms with a chance to secure the number one seed in the NFC and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Standing in the way is a familiar foe in the Seattle Seahawks. The 49ers offense is on an absolute heater, and the Seahawks defense presents a very interesting challenge. Mike MacDonald’s defense ranks near the top in many statistical categories and is the equivalent of Kyle Shanahan’s offense in terms of effectiveness and creativity.
This game has the makings of an unstoppable force meeting...

The San Francisco 49ers host the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday evening. The winner will earn a coveted bye week as the No. 1 seed in the playoff picture. The loser travels to Tampa Bay. Or Carolina. Perhaps Chicago. Maybe even Philadelphia.
Despite what happens Saturday night, it would not be a surprise to see the 49ers make a deep playoff run and play at Levi’s Stadium in the Super Bowl. Nor would it shock anybody to see them lose the first game. The same is true for every team in what feels like the most wide-open playoff field in a...

The No. 1 seed and the NFC West title are on the line for the San Francisco 49ers when they host the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday Night, with kickoff slated for 5:00 p.m. at Levi’s Stadium.
For the 49ers, it represents a chance to get the coveted first-round bye in the playoffs and get home-field advantage until the Super Bowl. But the bye would also allow the team, which is expected to be without star left tackle Trent Williams, to get healthy.
Those two accolades aren’t the only things on the line for the 49ers on Sunday. In fact, multiple...
