5 Qs Lions vs. Commanders preview: Washington is ‘a mess fueled by many injuries’

After a sobering defeat at the hands of a division rival, “5 Questions” is back with an opportunity for revenge. This week, we had the pleasure of connecting with Andrew York of Hogs Haven to give us some insight into the team responsible for ending the Lions season last year: the Washington Commanders. We talked about how Marcus Mariota takes charge of this offense, the Commanders pass-rush plan after dealing with season-ending injuries, and much more in the lead up to this rematch of the NFL Divisional round.

Steelers vs. Chargers: 5 questions with the enemy ahead of Week 10

The Pittsburgh Steelers (5-3) and the Los Angeles Chargers (6-3) clash this week on Sunday Night Football. Ahead of the big matchup between top AFC squads, I chatted with Michael Peterson, the producer of SB Nation’s Chargers website Bolts from the Blue, the figure out what the Steelers can expect from LA in Week 1o.

You can read my questions and his answers below:

  1. The big news for the Chargers this week, of course, is tackle Joe Alt being out for the season. How big of a blow is this for the LA offense?

The loss of Joe...

Bengals (11/7): Ending the silence

**Bengals silent while NFL decision-makers give interviews **Those Bengals rarely, if ever, trot out a member of the front office to speak through the media or otherwise about the ongoing season or direction of the franchise. That’s the same for director of player personnel Duke Tobin, effectively the team’s general manager, too.

🏈 Chris Simms thinks the Pittsburgh Steelers have no chance against the Los Angeles Chargers if they can’t run the ball.

“When you play the Chargers, if you can’t run the ball, then f****** pack up and go home. You’re done. Because if you think you’re gonna throw a little four-yard slant and three-yard throw and do that against the Chargers, no way,” Simms said on PFT Live. “Absolutely not. When you allow the Chargers to play pass defense, they will absolutely destroy you. Will...

Josh McDaniels Reveals Why Patriots Rookie Receiver Has Had Minuscule Role

Josh McDaniels Reveals Why Patriots Rookie Receiver Has Had Minuscule Role

The New England Patriots deploy a top-ten offense in both passing yards per game and total points per game. Despite putting up 26.3 points on average every Sunday, fans are still left wondering where rookie third-rounder Kyle Williams has been this season.

The Washington State alum recorded one catch for 12 yards in the season opener. He hauled in a pass in Week 3 as well, but hasn’t recorded a single reception since then.

He has finished many games without a single target, but this isn’t for lack of playing time.

Just last week, Williams played [46% of the offensive...

‘Keep Your Head On A Swivel’: Cam Heyward Knows What He’s In For Against A Greg Roman Offense

Cam Heyward has played his fair share of Greg Roman offenses during his career, and in that time, he’s learned a thing or two. Having spent years playing his units with the Ravens, he sees the same principles in the Chargers’ offense. On Thursday, he explained the two things that stick out to him most. […]

Zak Kuhr sees straight-forward solution to Patriots’ red zone woes

Zak Kuhr sees straight-forward solution to Patriots’ red zone woes

The New England Patriots defense has played some good football under interim defensive coordinator Zak Kuhr. Surrendering an average of 18 points per game, the unit is ranked fourth in the NFL in scoring.

However, it’s success is not evenly distributed across the board. While the run defense has looked good, and New England is among the best teams in football on both third and fourth downs, Kuhr’s group has struggled mightily in the red zone: opposing defenses have turned 15 of 20 red zone trips this season into touchdowns.

The 75% conversion rate given up is currently ranked last...

Patriots Predicted To Trade For $84 Million Giants Star Next Year

The New England Patriots stayed quiet at this year’s NFL trade deadline, but could get busy this offseason. Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton predicted on Thursday that the Patriots would trade for New York Giants linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux.

Thibodeaux was the fifth-overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft. However, his future with the Giants is unclear. The Giants picked up his $14 million fifth-year option before this season started, but the team has control over Brian Burns through 2028 and Abdul Carter through 2029.

Burns is signed to a $141 million deal, and Carter was the third-overall pick in the 2025...

Kawakami: The long, clear road to the 49ers’ silent deadline (paywall)
“(Note: The 49ers will probably get a good pick or two back if and when they trade Mac Jones next offseason, but it would’ve been difficult for the 49ers to factor that into any trade calculations this week.

(The Jets, Saints, Browns, Dolphins, and others could or will be looking for a starting quarterback. Jones is signed for next season, which is odd for a young former starter coming in as a backup, but...
