Titans release Chidobe Awuzie

Titans release Chidobe Awuzie

This was not a move I anticipated

The Tennessee Titans have released cornerback Chidobe Awuzie. This was not a move I saw coming. They signed him to a three-year $36 million dollar contract before last season. This move leaves them with just over $12.5 million in dead money and saves just over $1.725 million against this cap for this season, assuming he is a pre-June 1st cut. This regime really seems like they are determined to undo pretty much all of the deals that Ran Carthon did last offseason. Awuzie played in just eight games last season because of injuries....

Resetting the Titans needs after the first wave of NFL free agency

Resetting the Titans needs after the first wave of NFL free agency

Have the Titans settled on Cam Ward?

The Tennessee Titans came into free agency with needs at pretty much every position on their roster. They told us when Mike Borgonzi was hired that they were going to be a “draft and develop” organization. That meant they weren’t going to go on a spending frenzy in free agency like they did before the 2024 season. They have stuck to that plan. Their signings, with the exception of Dan Moore, have been on a very short-term basis giving them upgrades at positions for 2025 without jeopardizing the salary cap down the road....

Titans sign Brandon Allen to a one-year deal

Titans sign Brandon Allen to a one-year deal

There’s the veteran quarterback?

The Tennessee Titans have signed quarterback Brandon Allen to a one-year deal according to Mike Garafalo:

As the tweet mentions, Allen and Titans head coach Brian Callahan were together with the Cincinnati Bengals. It’s hard to imagine this was the “competition for Will Levis” that Callahan talked about at the end of last season but maybe it is. I don’t see them signing another veteran quarterback with Allen in the fold.

Does this point to them sticking at the number one pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and drafting Cam Ward? It seems increasingly more likely...

Mason Rudolph signs a 2-year deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers

Another veteran QB off the market.

Mike Garafolo is reporting that Mason Rudolph is returning to the Pittsburgh Steelers on a 2-year deal that will pay the veteran quarterback up to $8 million. Garafolo mentions that Rudolph had an offer from the Tennessee Titans as well but chose to head back to Pittsburgh. I’m good with that. Rudolph played OK at times last year but was pretty underwhelming overall.

The interesting question here is whether this keeps either Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson from going to the Steelers. The rumor is that they have made an offer to Rodgers that...

Titans sign Dre’Mont Jones to a 1-year deal

Titans sign Dre’Mont Jones to a 1-year deal

The Titans are going to have a really good defensive line!

Last night it was reported that the Tennessee Titans have agreed to a 1-year $10 million deal with former Seattle Seahawks defensive lineman Dre’Mont Jones. This one came a little out of nowhere for me, but I like it. Jones will give them some versatility on the defensive line, as Denico Autry did when he was here. He’s more of a defensive end than an EDGE guy, but he can play both.

The Titans plan is clearly to build thing upfront first on the offensive and defensive line. They...

Titans trade Kenneth Murray to the Cowboys

Titans trade Kenneth Murray to the Cowboys

Kenneth Murray, we hardly knew ye!

[UPDATE] - Jordan Schultz is reporting the Titans will get a sixth-round pick from the Cowboys in exchange for Murray and a seventh-round pick.

Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Tennessee Titans are trading ILB Kenneth Murray to the Dallas Cowboys. The Titans signed Murray to a 2-year $15.5 million dollar deal last offseason. Rapoport said the deal will be for a swap of late round picks.

Murray played in 14 games and had 95 tackles last season. He was pretty much as advertised in his time here. He was pretty good against the...

Titans sign former Pro Bowl guard Kevin Zeitler

Titans sign former Pro Bowl guard Kevin Zeitler

There’s your starting right guard

The Tennessee Titans now have a serviceable offensive line with the addition of former Pro Bowler Kevin Zeitler. Adam Schefter is reporting the Titans have signed him to a 1-year $9 million deal. Zeitler, who just turned 35 this month, was with the Detroit Lions in 2024. He has also played for the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Giants, Cleveland Browns, and Baltimore Ravens in his 13-year NFL career.

Coming into free agency, we knew the Titans absolutely had to fix the offensive line. They have done a solid job of that with this signing and...

Titans signing offensive lineman Blake Hance

Titans signing offensive lineman Blake Hance

Hopefully, Hance isn’t the starting plan

Aaron Wilson is reporting that the Tennessee Titans are signing interior offensive lineman Blake Hance to a 1-year deal worth $1.327 million. Hance has bounced around the league a little bit playing for the Cleveland Browns, San Francisco 49ers, and Jacksonville Jaguars in his 5 years in the league. He has ties to Titans offensive line coach Bill Callahan from their time together with the Browns.

Hance should not be the plan to start at right guard. Anytime a guy has been on 3 teams in 5 years it does not point to him...

Titans signing wide receiver Van Jefferson

Titans signing wide receiver Van Jefferson

Definite downgrade from NWI!

Jordan Schultz is reporting that the Tennessee Titans are finalizing a 1-year deal with free agent wide receiver Van Jefferson who spent last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers where he had 24 catches for 276 yards and two touchdowns. It makes no sense to me why they would sign Jefferson to a 1-year deal instead of signing Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to a 2-year deal. Jefferson is pretty clearly a downgrade there.

The really sad part of this is that he is now the second most productive receiver on the roster. In fact, his 137 catches, 1,876 yards,...

Best available players Titans can target on Day 3 of NFL free agency

Who should the Tennessee Titans target on Day 3 of NFL free agency?

The Tennessee Titans had a quieter day on Tuesday in NFL free agency, though they still made headlines. First-year general manager Mike Borgonzi made a pair of support-cast signings, adding punter Johnny Hekker, and veteran safety Xavier Woods to modest short-term contracts. In bigger news, punter Ryan Stonehouse and linebacker Jack Gibbens will depart in free agency, and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine signed an extremely cheap contract with the Miami Dolphins.

The Titans still possess some major holes in free agency. Quarterback, EDGE, wide receiver, and right guard could...

Titans sign veteran safety Xavier Woods to two-year contract

The Tennessee Titans add an eight-year veteran to their secondary

The Tennessee Titans are signing veteran safety Xavier Woods to a two-year contract worth $10 million. It was first reported on social media by Adam Schefter. Woods immediately steps into a starting role at a position of need opposite Amani Hooker.

Durability has been a theme for Mike Borgonzi in his first offseason as general manager. In signing offensive tackle Dan Moore, he got an offensive tackle who’s been healthy to play more than 4,000 snaps in four seasons. Woods follows a similar theme. Woods played a league-leading (offense or...

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to sign with the Dolphins

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine to sign with the Dolphins

Seems like a number the Titans should have been willing to match

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine has agreed to terms with the Miami Dolphins. The deal is reportedly for 2-years and $6.5 million with $3.2 million guaranteed. That is a deal that it seems like the Titans should have been willing to match. NWI has been a solid player for them since he joined the team in 2020 and caught nine touchdowns last season to lead the team.

The only reason I can think of that the Titans weren’t willing to beat that offer is that they are just going to take...
