The Pittsburgh Steelers have a legacy of legendary defenses. In the 1970s, that was their identity and one of the main reasons they won four Super Bowls. Then, in the 2000s, the Steelers once again fielded championship-level defenses. Now, the 2025 Steelers are hoping to follow in the footsteps of those teams. Juan Thornhill thinks […]
Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro cornerbacks Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay made a simple pitch to general manager Omar Khan, and that’s to pay Cam Heyward what he deserves.
“[I’ve] got a lot of respect for you, Mr. Omar,” Ramsey said on Heyward’s Not Just Football podcast. “You took care of me, T.J., Slay – Cam is next.”
Ramsey believes the Steelers have a special defensive unit. But they need their captain Cam Heyward.
“We’re excited, man,” Ramsey said. “We’ve got the potential to do something great if we’ve got all [of] our guys out there happy and feeling like they’re valued.”...
If Cam Heyward’s contract situation occured in a vacuum, of course the Pittsburgh Steelers should give him more money. He is being paid like the 23rd-best defensive tackle in the league and he was arguably the very best last season. But every negotiation sets a precedent, and the team can’t afford to break long-standing rules […]
It’s been a familiar story for the Pittsburgh Steelers over the past few seasons. A strong defense bogged down by a lackluster offense as the team scratches and claws its way into the postseason. With the additions of QB Aaron Rodgers, WR DK Metcalf and TE Jonnu Smith, there’s hope that Pittsburgh’s offense will be […]
After signing a contract extension last September, Cam Heyward had one of his best seasons yet. He was named a first-team All-Pro at 35 years old. As a result, he’s currently looking for the Steelers to restructure his contract to give him more money this year. However, no deal is done yet, and the season […]
Several Steelers Depot readers discuss the Black and Gold every Monday night on the Clubhouse app. We made an early roster prediction just before 2025 Steelers training camp began. Since then, Omar Khan has executed several transactions and some were players injured during camp, prompting more changes. Here is the revised 53-man roster based on […]
Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Cam Heyward made headlines last week when it was revealed he was holding in for more money. The Steelers gave Heyward a two-year extension last year, which is why it surprised many that he would be asking for more money so soon.
Heyward noted he wanted to be “valued,” as he is outside of the top 20 defensive tackles in terms of average annual salary. The All-Pro also hinted that he would consider sitting out regular season games if he didn’t get a pay raise.
Heyward had new teammates Jalen Ramsey and Darius Slay on the...
Going into this offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers needed to upgrade at wide receiver. They didn’t waste much time doing that, trading for DK Metcalf. Metcalf has been in the league since 2019, and in that time, he’s made two Pro Bowls and been named a second-team All-Pro once. While he’s been a really good player, […]
After a competitive joint practice, the Pittsburgh Steelers will host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as they look to string together consecutive positive performances to begin the preseason. Once again, Head Coach Mike Tomlin is making the decision to withhold a myriad of starters in this one, which will allow some of the youth on the roster to get some more shine. The final result is truly inconsequential, but tracking the progress of the rookie class in particular is exciting for all parties involved. Here are five players worth keeping an eye on when they take the field tomorrow night.

Entering the 2025 season, there’s some concerns centered on the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offensive line as there’s a bit of the unknown at the tackle positions with Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu. But there are no concerns at the center position with second-year pro Zach Frazier. In fact, that’s arguably one of the strongest positions on […]
