Steelers sign two more rookies

The Steelers have signed rookies Germie Bernard and Eli Heidenreich to their first NFL contracts, the team announced Monday.

Pittsburgh traded up to select Bernard, an Alabama wide receiver, in the second round in 2026. Heidenreich, who was added to the Steelers’ roster as a running back/wide receiver, was a versatile slotback in the Navy offense.

Bernard has already been drawing good reviews from Steelers players in the team’s first day of OTAs Monday.

Contract details have not yet been released for either player, but the question will be how much of Bernard’s contract — or all of it —...

Broderick Jones at OTAs, But Steelers Future Remains Uncertain

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh Steelers tackle Broderick Jones was in uniform for the first practice of OTAs for the 2026 season, just months after undergoing surgery to repair the neck injury that prematurely ended his 2025 season.

While Jones was in formation with the rest of the Steelers during warmups at the start of practice, he did not participate in the team portion of practice that was open to the media.

Jones has not spoken to the media since he first suffered the injury, against the Chicago Bears last fall.

Sights and sounds from the Steelers’ first OTA

Sights and sounds from the Steelers’ first OTA

Steelers OTAs, or organized team activities, kicked off on Monday in Pittsburgh. And despite the practice’s voluntary nature, the team saw good attendance on Day 1 — even newly re-signed quarterback Aaron Rodgers was present.

The team still has nine OTAs and a mandatory minicamp before training camp starts later in the summer. The depth charts and roster are still far from complete, and with contact disallowed, plays and drills are a shell of what they’ll be later in the year.

Still, Monday’s OTA marked one of the first looks at what the 2026 Steelers are shaping up to be....
