What a surprise
We are used to the Las Vegas Raiders making surprise first-round picks.
But this one is different.
The Raiders have been famous for reaches and most have not panned out. This isn’t Clelin Ferrell, Alex Leatherwood or Damon Arnette.
This time, the Raiders made a surprise pick and it was because they took a player who was expected to be taken higher than he was. So, don’t be mad that the Raiders used the No. 13 overall pick on Georgia tight end Brock Bowers.
Yes, it may be a luxury pick for a team with other needs,...

The Las Vegas Raiders were expected to draft a quarterback. However, for the first time since 1983, six quarterbacks went in the first round.
This left the Raiders with 13 options, with tons of high-level talent still on the board. Tom Telesco shocked Raider Nation by selecting elite tight end prospect Brock Bowers...
X/Twitter reacts to the pick
With quarterbacks flying off the board in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Las Vegas Raiders went with a ‘best player available’ approach to the 13th overall pick and took Georgia tight end Brock Bowers.
The Raiders had other needs, specifically at offensive line and cornerback, so Bowers’ selection came as a big surprise and was arguably one of the biggest shockers of the night. So, let’s take a look at how X, formerly known as Twitter, reacted to the news.
Even Bowers was shocked!

All you need to know about draft weekend
Congratulations, we’ve made it.
Mock draft season is over. It’s time for the real thing. The three-day NFL Draft starts Thursday.
Of course, it’s a big draft for the Las Vegas Raiders, who need to supplement this roster with a strong draft in the first full season under coach Antonio Pierce. The Raiders have some quality pick and they have the opportunity to get better.
The process starts now. Here is everything you need to know about how to watch the draft.

Using his draft history, here are the Raiders’ GM’s options he might desire in the 2024 NFL draft
The Las Vegas Raiders' new general manager, Tom Telesco, is the Raiders' first veteran at the position. With over 30 years of scouting and front-office experience, Mark Davis hoped that a seasoned decision-maker could push the team to success.
Telesco was the GM of the Los Angeles Chargers for the past ten seasons. He built teams full of stars, but it didn't lead to consistent wins on the football field. The former Chargers GM's efficiency with first—and second-round picks is part of...
Raider Nation stays on the conservative side to stay at 13
The Las Vegas Raiders are getting ready for the draft, which is only three days away. One of their most significant needs is a quarterback, as only Aiden O’Connell and Gardner Minshew are on the roster.
The problem is the Raiders are picking at 13, and to get one of the big four quarterbacks in the draft, they would have to make a trade. They could wait and have a chance at Michael Penix or even Bo Nix if they decide to go with the best player.
In this...
A look at NFL money spending over 3-season period
The Las Vegas Raiders have spent some large contracts in recent years.
They gave wide receiver Davante Adams a huge deal two years ago after trading for him and they extended the contract of star pass-rusher Maxx Crosby in addition to others.
Yet, a recent study by NFL salary-cap analyst Jack Duffin shows the Raiders have fallen just under the league over in the 2021-23 NFL seasons combined. Here is the chart:
The chart shows the Raiders (who made the playoffs once during the three-season period with no post-season victories) spent...

With quarterbacks going early, Las Vegas goes BPA and reinforces trenches
It’s finally here. The NFL Draft week has descended up on us with the three-day event kicking off on Thursday with Round 1.
With a new general manager and (not so new, but permanent) head coach in tow, the Las Vegas Raiders have ample opportunity to build a roster in Tom Telesco’s and Antonio Pierce’s vision. The Silver & Black GM and head coach, respectively, embark on their combined journey with the No. 13 overall pick.
Unless the Raiders maneuver up or down, that’s where the team is slated...
