The Week 12 blowout loss to the Cleveland Browns showed just how far off the 2025 Las Vegas Raiders are from being a competitive team in the league. The Athletic has reported Las Vegas Raiders’ quarterbacks coach Greg Olson will be the interim offensive coordinator for the rest of the season to replace Chip Kelly, who was fired on Sunday night.

When I wrote: “You can’t spell “incompetent” without Pete” seven games into the Las Vegas Raiders 2025 campaign, it was dubbed by some as too harsh.

That column was written after the Silver & Black went into they bye week off a 31-0 shellacking by the Kansas City Chiefs and, despite a valiant effort out of the hiatus (30-29 overtime loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars), Pete Carroll’s Raiders have dropped five-straight games with Sunday’s 24-10 lopsided home loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Let’s get this out of the way right away: Kelly was awful this season. His offense was out of sync and had no personality all season. He seemed stubborn and he and coach Pete Carroll didn’t always seem on the right page. Quarterback Geno Smith regressed and Kelly couldn’t get prized rookie running back Ashton Jeanty. Kelly did a terrible job in Las Vegas. There’s no other way to put it.
