NFL Week 6 Sunday Schedule & Open Thread: Lions-Chiefs looms large on SNF

NFL Week 6 Sunday Schedule & Open Thread: Lions-Chiefs looms large on SNF

Sunday is here, and once again NFL fans will get a quadruple-header thanks to the league scheduling an early game on the other side of the Atlantic. That game features the Denver Broncos and New York Jets playing in London, but it’s the game that wraps up today’s schedule that will be the big one that football fans will want to tune in for.

Sunday Night Football finally gets a premier matchup this week after a couple of duds, as the Detroit Lions and Kansas City Chiefs will square off in prime time. The Chiefs have been a bit disappointing...

5 Questions With the Enemy: Cincinnati Bengals

5 Questions With the Enemy: Cincinnati Bengals

Anthony Cosenza of Cincy Jungle, our sister site covering the Cincinnati Bengals, stopped by this week to answer a couple of questions about his team before the Green Bay Packers face off against them in Week 6. If you want to read the companion article to this one, where Cosenza asks questions about the Packers, you can find that HERE.

Obviously, both offensive lines are banged up, but I wanted to start this conversation about Cincinnati’s new quarterback.

**#1: So, you traded for a quarterback this week in Joe Flacco, who managed to beat the Packers in Week 3. What...

Packers vs. Bengals Week 6 Primer: TV channel, game time, odds, & more

Today, the Green Bay Packers finally get a chance to get back on the right track. After a long layoff during their bye last week, the Packers return to Lambeau Field to play their first home game since September 13th — exactly 30 days ago.

Facing them today are the Cincinnati Bengals, who will try to beat the Packers with a new quarterback after trading for Joe Flacco this week. Without Joe Burrow, who had surgery for a turf toe injury a few weeks ago, the Bengals have scuffled in losing three straight games. Two of those losses came to...

Packers sign 2 players ahead of Bengals game

Packers sign 2 players ahead of Bengals game

The Green Bay Packers announced on Saturday that they have signed kicker Lucas Havrisik to the 53-man roster. Green Bay’s preferred starting kicker, Brandon McManus, was injured during Wednesday’s practice. He’s since stated that he’s going to play on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, but McManus was limited in practice throughout the week and was never a full participant.

On Thursday, Havrisik and former Packers kicker Greg Joseph were brought in to work out with the team. The timing of this move is interesting, as Green Bay could have had Havrisik in for Friday’s practice, but they chose to wait...

Packers Film Room: Explosive pass plays against the Packers’ defense

Packers Film Room: Explosive pass plays against the Packers’ defense

The Green Bay Packers entered their bye week with a 40-40 tie in Dallas, and at the center of it was what might have been the worst defensive performance of the Jeff Hafley era. It’s nothing that should be cause for alarm, but it did highlight for the first time how Hafley’s staple third-down coverages are susceptible to being beaten.

Through the first four games of 2025, the defense has surrendered just three explosive pass plays of 20+ yards. But all three of those came in the week four game.

Dak Prescott finished 12/14 for 162 yards and one touchdown...

Packers film room: How Micah Parsons unlocks the pass rush

Packers film room: How Micah Parsons unlocks the pass rush

Several players along the defensive front seven are benefiting from the mere presence of Green Bay Packers defensive end Micah Parsons being on the field.

Does it seem like Micah Parsons hasn’t had nearly the same effect in the last two games as he did in the first two? Perhaps. Defenses are finding ways to slow him down. Through five weeks, he’s 2nd in double team/chip rate (67%) behind only Myles Garrett per Pro Football Focus. His pass rush win rate in true pass sets, also per PFF, is 31%.

Safe to say he’s having an impact even if the...

Week 7 College Football Discussion Thread

Week 7 College Football Discussion Thread

Saturday of the college football slate hasn’t even started yet, but there’s already been a game played that impacted the playoff outlook this week. On Friday, #24 South Florida beat the undefeated North Texas 63-36. Going into the game, North Texas had a 14.8 percent chance to make the playoff and a 7.7 percent chance of winning out, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index. That chance of winning out was the 15th-best in all of the FBS.

Fun fact: 0-6 Oregon State has an eight percent chance to win out, the 14th-best mark in the FBS, which goes to show...

Packers-Bengals Preview: What do the numbers say about the Cincy defense?

Packers-Bengals Preview: What do the numbers say about the Cincy defense?

In my last post, we took a look at the Joe Flacco trade and how that may work out for the Bengals offense (in short: not great). Today, we’re looking at the other side of the ball. What has the Bengals defense looked like in 2025?

You can look at whatever numbers you want to look at and the picture for this Bengals defense isn’t pretty. FTN’s DVOA doesn’t typically normalize until Week 6, but we’re far enough into the season where things start to become a little more clear. Through 5 weeks, the Bengals are sporting the 3rd worst...

Packers vs. Bengals Final Injury Report: 3 out on Sunday

Packers vs. Bengals Final Injury Report: 3 out on Sunday

The Green Bay Packers have officially ruled out three players for action against the Cincinnati Bengals: tackle Anthony Belton (ankle), receiver Christian Watson (knee) and defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt (knee). Watson is currently still a member of the physically unable to perform list, so he’s not a member of the 53-man roster during this practice window period of his return.

Without Wyatt, which was expected, the Packers will once again have a thin defensive tackle room. Their only backups going into the game will be undrafted rookie Nazir Stackhouse, who had a 20 grade from PFF against the Dallas Cowboys,...

Week 6 NFL Picks: Can the Packers cover a huge spread over the Bengals?

Week 6 NFL Picks: Can the Packers cover a huge spread over the Bengals?

As the days have gone by this week and Sunday approaches, the Green Bay Packers remain huge favorites over the Cincinnati Bengals. Neither injury reports nor a trade for Joe Flacco have moved the needle to this point, leaving the Packers as 14.5-point favorites heading into Sunday’s Week 6 matchup at Lambeau Field.

As we discussed here at APC earlier this week, this would be the Packers’ biggest spread as a favorite since 2012 if it holds up through kickoff, and so the big question is this: can they cover? To answer that question, our contributors are back with our...

Packers need to show they’re serious this weekend

Packers need to show they’re serious this weekend

It doesn’t really matter how you win in the NFL, just that you keep doing it.

Power rankings aren’t real. There’s no BCS computer that will determine who’s the Super Bowl champion at the end of the season. There are no style points in the box score.

And yet, I think it does matter how the Packers win this weekend. (If they win, that is. The way their past two games have gone, that hardly seems like a foregone conclusion no matter how much they’re favored over the Bengals.)

A loss, inconceivable though it may seem, would spark some serious...
