The Detroit Lions (5-3) and Washington Commanders (3-6) will square off in a Week 10 battle. While these two teams just faced off in last year’s NFC Divisional playoff game, each team looks a bit different than they did last year, and both teams are dealing with significant injuries, though the Lions’ situation may be a bit more optimistic.
As for the teams’ coaching staff, the Lions are working with two new coordinators and a handful of new position coaches, while the Commanders are rolling back the same unit from last season. As a reminder of who the Commanders’ decision-makers...

The Detroit Lions enter Week 10 facing quite the dilemma when it comes to their offensive line. Starting left guard Christian Mahogany was placed on injured reserve this week, and both starting tackles—Taylor Decker and Penei Sewell—are currently battling shoulder injuries and started the week by resting during Wednesday’s practice. That’s not even including the struggles from the unit in general, as Jared Goff is trending toward a career high in sacks, and the Lions’ run game has taken a significant step back from last year’s dominance.
On Wednesday, Lions coach Dan Campbell said the team was exploring several options,...

With the Detroit Lions standing pat at the NFL trade deadline, coach Dan Campbell faced a flurry of questions on Wednesday for why the team didn’t feel the need to make a move. Earlier on Tuesday, Campbell said they were looking—particularly at their currently-injured offensive line position—but he revealed the day after that nothing worthwhile materialized.
“There was nothing that was, I would say, enough to be noteworthy,” Campbell said. “I mean it was certainly more intriguing, but not—it wasn’t good enough. So, all good. All good. We’re ready to roll.”
Instead of adding players at the trade deadline, [the...

The Detroit Lions’ transaction wire got a workout on Wednesday, with a handful of moves being announced throughout the day. The Lions started the injury evaluation clock on Josh Paschal and rookie Miles Frazier, signed three offensive linemen to the practice squad, and sorted through 14 players on the injury report. But they weren’t done, as they also announced that they had placed starting left guard Christian Mahogany on injured reserve and signed linebacker Ty Summers off the practice squad.
Here’s an at-a-glance look at Wednesday’s roster moves:

The Detroit Lions (5-3) and Washington Commanders (3-6) will square off in Week 10, and both teams are working through a handful of injuries. While the Lions added a few more names to the injury report this week, they also returned two more players from their injury lists on Wednesday.
Let’s take a look at the latest injury report and get you up to date with what we know. Note: Any changes from the last injury report will be bolded.

Each week, SB Nation tracks NFL fans’ confidence levels of their favorite teams with their Reacts Surveys posted on their team websites. For Pride of Detroit, we are tasked with gauging Detroit Lions fans’ confidence in the team heading into each game. But this week, we’ve added an additional two questions to the mix:
As for the recurring first question,...

In a bit of a surprising development, Detroit Lions defensive end Josh Paschal returned to practice on Wednesday. Paschal, who is currently on the Non-Football Injury list with a back problem, hasn’t practiced all season due to the offseason injury. His return to practice begins his 21-day evaluation period, where he can remain on the NFI list until he is ready to return to the 53-man roster.
It’s a surprising move because just last week, coach Dan Campbell suggested he may still be a month out from returning to the field.
“We’re trying to be smart, we’re taking it as...

The Detroit Lions are bringing in a bunch of offensive line reinforcements this week. Not only have they started the evaluation clock on fifth-round rookie Miles Frazier, but the team announced on Wednesday that they have added three offensive linemen to their practice squad: Jack Conley, Chris Hubbard, and Netane Muti.
We wrote about Conley’s addition on Tuesday night when the news leaked out to the media. While Conley, an undrafted rookie, is a more developmental add, Hubbard and Muti are veterans who give Detroit’s depth some serious experience.
Hubbard has been in the league since 2013, and has started...

The Detroit Lions continue to work towards returning players from their injury lists, and on Wednesday, coach Dan Campbell announced that the team is starting the 21-day injury evaluation clock on rookie offensive lineman Miles Frasier.
The Lions traded up into the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft to select Frazier and hoped to get him in competition for a role this season. Unfortunately, Frazier injured his knee during, or shortly after, the rookie minicamp and landed on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list. After missing all of training camp and the first nine weeks of the regular season, Frazier is...

The NFL trade deadline has come and went, and for a Detroit Lions team looking for answers after a tough loss to the Minnesota Vikings, they found none on Tuesday. Whether they tried to find some help and couldn’t, or just weren’t that interested, remains a mystery.
But on this week’s Midweek Mailbag podcast, Erik Schlitt and I offered our reactions to the inactions. Were the Detroit Lions wrong in not adding any offensive line help? Should they have made any of the moves that were actually made on Tuesday, like when the Chargers spent a 2027 sixth-round pick on...

Earlier this week, the NFL levied a one-game suspension on Washington Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu. The suspension was for another hip-drop tackle from Luvu, the third infraction of that type from him this season alone. He was scheduled to miss Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions
However, on Tuesday night, the NFL downgraded Luvu’s punishment from a one-game suspension to a $100,000 fine, making him eligible to play this week against the Lions.
This is a tough break for Lions fans for several reasons. Earlier this year, Brian Branch failed to get his one-game suspension reduced upon appeal, albeit under...

What a difference a year makes. While the Detroit Lions are still one of the top teams in the NFC at 5-3. Despite their disappointing defeat to the Minnesota Vikings last week, they’re still a top team in the conference. You can’t ignore them in the NFC North race, with all four teams at least .500, and Detroit sits in second, a half game behind the Green Bay Packers.
The Washington Commanders, on the other hand? Phew, I don’t know where to start. With the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year last year in quarterback Jayden Daniels, the Commanders upset...
