The Detroit Lions have a pivotal stretch of football upcoming, yet they will be without some pivotal players for at least some of it.
Even with the good news surrounding Amon-Ra St. Brown’s injury, he figures to miss a week or two recovering from the ankle injury sustained in the loss to the Green Bay Packers. The Lions were already without a go-to option in Sam LaPorta, with the tight end likely to miss the rest of the season. Down two star players, plus injuries to Graham Glasgow, Brock Wright, and Kalif Raymond, the Lions offense is on unstable ground....
Pride of Detroit
As the Detroit Lions prepare for a big game against the Dallas Cowboys this week, they have made a couple of transactional moves to help supplement the roster. The team announced that they’ve signed tight end Giovanni Ricci and running back Jabari Small to the practice squad. In order to make room, they’ve also released Tre Flowers from the practice squad.
Ricci joins the team after they’ve gone through a couple of big injuries. Starter Sam LaPorta is likely out for the year with a back injury. Backup [Brock Wright is dealing with a neck/trachea injury that coach Dan Campbell...

Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell met with the media on Sunday in preparation for the team’s Thursday game against the Dallas Cowboys. Among many other topics, Campbell provided a bunch of injury updates as they head into another week of Thursday football.
Joseph hasn’t played since the team’s Week 6 game against the Kansas City Chiefs, and Campbell provided a bit of clarity on what he’s dealing with in regards to his injury. He called it a bone bruise with a little “wear and tear.” He’s missed so much time as they’ve...
Pride of Detroit
Though Week 13 is already four games deep, there is plenty of football left. The Detroit Lions are mercifully done, leaving us a Sunday to watch football without any stakes—unless you’re desperately trying to make a fantasy football playoff spot. When it comes to the Lions’ own playoff race, there are a few games that matter, but the stakes are all relatively low compared to the games that have already been played. In essence, if you’re a football fan, don’t throw too much emotions into the outcomes on Sunday. Just enjoy the games.
If you want to hang out all...
Pride of Detroit
It’s been a miserable week for Detroit Lions playoff odds. Based on the results of the four games already played in Week 14, the Lions’ playoff odds plummeted from 73% to 32%, according to the New York Times simulator. These three outcomes were incredibly harmful to Detroit’s postseason chances:
Sunday doesn’t provide much relief for Detroit, as the most important games are already over. However, there is some hope in Sunday’s results. If four results go the Lions’ way—admittedly, most would be upsets—Detroit’s playoff odds will increase to...
Pride of Detroit
It’s been a rough week.
A week ago, the Detroit Lions required last-minute heroics by Jahmyr Gibbs and company to beat a 2-10 New York Giants team. That uninspiring performance led many to believe that the Lions are nowhere near where they need to be to make a playoff run this year. Those fears were essentially confirmed on Thursday when the Lions couldn’t catch the Green Bay Packers in a game they trailed for nearly the entire afternoon. Throw in an emotional-tolling Frank Ragnow unretirement that lasted about 72 hours and devastating wins from the Bears and Cowboys, and I...
