The Washington Commanders enter their season opener against the New York Giants with several players dealing with injuries from the preseason. There were six players on the first injury report of the season, while the Giants only had OT Andrew Thomas listed as limited due to a foot injury. Washington’s long list includes TE Zach Ertz getting a vet rest day, and K Matt Gay missing today’s practice with an illness.
The Commanders had three players that were limited today. DE Dorance Armstrong is listed with a knee injury, and CB Jonathan Jones is dealing with a hamstring injury. WR...
Jayden Daniels, Terry McLaurin, Josh Conerly Jr, Bill, and other Washington Commanders spoke to reporters after today’s practice. Daniels got the full presser treatment and talked about knowing what to expect going into Week 1 in his second season in the league. He brushed off a question about the expectations for him and the team being raised after last season. He doesn’t listen to outside noise, and focuses on improving his game. The Commanders continue to bring in more veteran leadership, and Daniels said he can see everyone buying in. He also praised his new RT Josh Conerly Jr, and...
The Washington Commanders are back on the practice fields at team headquarters in Ashburn, VA today. They are preparing for the home, season opener against NFC East rivals, the New York Giants. Head coach Dan Quinn spoke to the media before practice started and talked about establishing the team’s identity, and said it takes more than one year. Jayden Daniels is a big part of the Commanders’ identity, and Quinn said his second-year QB has a “rare focus about him” and the best of the best have that.
Terry McLaurin signed his contract extension, but missed training camp while also...
The Athletic (paywall)
McLaurin’s contract includes $9.4 million in upside, with incentives and an escalator. There are three performance-based incentives in each of the three new years of the deal (2026-28) that could double in value:
The Washington Commanders released their latest depth chart ahead of the first week of the season. In it, the Commanders list rookie running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt as their fourth running back on the depth chart, behind Austin Ekeler, Jeremy McNichols, and Chris Rodriguez Jr.. It is an interesting position for “Bill” Croskey-Merritt, knowing that fans and beat reporters, who covered the rookie running back daily during training camp, were very optimistic over his potential impact this year. Being fourth on the depth chart doesn’t negate their opinion, though, but it begs the question of whether Bill would be active on...

In this week’s survey, we have three questions.
Question 1
Hogs Haven members who have been around for a while will recognize Q1 as one we ask weekly throughout the season to constantly ‘check the temperature’ of the fan base. It’s a simple yes/no question that asks if you are confident in the direction of the team.
Question 2...

The Washington Commanders have released a new depth chart before the start of the 2025 season. The team has been making adjustments to the roster throughout the offseason and training camp, and will likely make more moves soon. The Commanders host the New York Giants on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET and are big home favorites for their home opener.
This is the second season with Adam Peters as general manager and Dan Quinn as head coach. Jayden Daniels was the first pick of the new era of Washington football, and he led the team to the NFC Championship game...
The Washington Commanders finished their first season under the Josh Harris-Adam Peters-Dan Quinn-Jayden Daniels era with a 12-5 record and a trip to the NFC Championship game. That wasn’t good enough, and they’re now building on that early success to push for a Super Bowl appearance, and victory. Their season ended with a loss against the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles, and they’ve been making moves to prevent that from happening again.
Adam Peters has made protecting and benefiting Jayden Daniels a priority this offseason after the No. 2 overall pick won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year...

Biggest Strength: Offensive Skill Players
Armed with an elite young quarterback, multiple rushing threats and a potentially dynamic receiving corps, the Commanders should possess a high-flying offense once again in 2024. Jayden Daniels finished his rookie season ranked fifth among qualified quarterbacks in PFF overall grade. He and the team’s running back unit combined to rank sixth in the league in PFF rushing grade. Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel bring unique and dynamic skill sets at wide receiver. Expect the Commanders to score plenty of points...
The Washington Commanders announced in early July that a new alternate helmet and uniform were debuting, and would be available for preorder in September. The team has been using their current uniforms since Dan Snyder changed the name for a second time, and his wife Tanya helped design the much-maligned lineup.
Josh Harris leads the ownership group that bought the team, and reinvigorated the franchise. While he has repeatedly said the team isn’t going back to the Redskins name, he has committed to link the present to the past, and fixing the uniform issue is one of the ways he’s...
