The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly trading disgruntled LB Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers, ending a dispute that once again put Owner/GM Jerry Jones in the national spotlight. He claims he had a deal with Parsons, but once his agent got involved it all fell apart. Jones seemed confident a deal would get done, and wasn’t listening trade offers, but rumors about interest from Green Bay persisted.
Ian Rapoport reports that the Cowboys are sending their All-Pro defender to the Packers for two first round picks. He has also agreed to a 4-year, $188 million deal that includes $136...
The Washington Commanders held their last practice before they break for the Labor Day weekend. Dan Quinn spoke to the media before they hit the fields and announced that two defensive backs weren’t here today for very special reasons. Mike Sainristil and Jonathan Jones are both expecting to become fathers today. The Commanders are preparing for their Week 1 home game against the New York Giants, but they also have to look ahead to their Week 2 Thursday Night Football game against the Green Bay Packers.
Jayden Daniels spoke to reporters after practice, and he, like Dan Quinn talked about...

Ale Kaho, a free agent linebacker, made the 53-man roster without receiving the dreaded cut call.
As Tuesday afternoon bled into evening, Ale Kaho learned a truism about the NFL’s hardest day. “When you don’t get a phone call,” Kaho said, “that’s better than getting a phone call.”
Barring a roster move between now and [the Week 1 game], Kaho will be there. In April, months after he’d played his final game for UCLA, he waited seven rounds...

Terry McLaurin has signed his three-year contract extension, And returned to the fields to practice with the Washington Commanders today. GM Adam Peters and HC Dan Quinn spoke to the media about the deal before practice, and then it was Terry’s turn after it ended. McLaurin is happy the deal is done and he’s back on the practice field with his teammates. He said he got what he wanted, and now returns to the only NFL team he’s played for. The process was frustrating and tested his faith, and he’s glad they worked through the deal that’s a win-win for...
General Manager Adam Peters and Head Coach Dan Quinn spoke to the media before the Washington Commanders hit the practice field to start preparing for Week 1’s season opener against the New York Giants. Terry McLaurin’s contract extension was the story of he offseason, and Peters thanked him for his professionalism throughout the process.
Yesterday the Washington Commanders cut their roster down from 90 to 53 players. The roster is still in flux, but Washington, who are #29 on the waiver priority list, weren’t awarded any waiver claims. The team is now focused on filling out their 17*-player practice squad.
Teams started signing players to their practice squads after 12 pm when the waiver claims period ended, or added vested veterans who were released before the deadline. Washington has officially signed 14 players to their practice squad and still has room for three more players.

The details of Terry McLaurin’s contract extension are now publicly available, and, as most knowledgeable NFL observers had expected, the deal is not as clearly lucrative as Monday’s reporting would have indicated. Yes, the extension adds 3 years and more than $96m to McLaurin’s existing deal, but the guarantees are modest and the opportunities for the Commanders to save cap space by cutting or trading Terry in either of the final two years of his contract offer a great deal of flexibility to the team.
The average annual value of the extension is consistent with the rest of the top-tier...

That McLaurin got $29 million in average annual value instead of the $32 million he sought is something they “debate” on ESPN. The deal is worth “up to” $96 million over three seasons in the same way I can get “down to” 175 pounds if I’d just eat a little better and work out a little more. It’s an aspiration, not reality.
Just as predicted, neither side is likely all that happy with the final resolution. But the Commanders...
The preseason schedule is complete, and NFL teams trimmed their rosters to 53 players on Tuesday afternoon. Both rookies and veterans alike were released, with different rules applying for each. Players with less than four accrued seasons must pass through the waiver wire to become unrestricted free agents. An accrued season is defined as six or more games on either a team’s roster, injured reserve, or physically unable to perform list. Players that have four or more accrued seasons are immediately free agents and may sign with a team at any time.
Adam Peters has done a remarkable job of...

The Washington Commanders now have a 53-man roster.
It may continue to take shape over the days between now and the home and season opening game against the Giants, but the team is substantially set although there may yet be a waiver wire transaction or one or two free agent signings and some releases of players currently at the bottom of...
One of the older teams in the NFL this season, the Washington Commanders had over 30 players who could have been subject to waivers as the team cut down from 90 players to 53 yesterday.
Of course, a substantial number players on their rookie contracts should be safe losing their roster spots, but, if any are waived this week, they are subject to the waiver wire pool and can be claimed by another team.
If not claimed by another team, after noon on Wednesday they are eligible to be a part of Washington’s 17-man practice squad.
