The Chicago Bears made massive strides in 2025, but last year is last year, and they’re turning the page to a new chapter. To have sustained success, they’ll need several players to break out, so here are my top 5 who I believe will.
Picks 10-6 can be found here!
5. WR Rome Odunze
Despite some less-than-ideal moments early in the season for Odunze, he was well on his way to his first 1,000-yard season and potentially 10-plus receiving touchdowns. Injuries happen in the game, and the third-year receiver deserves plenty of credit for trying to play through a stress...

As we wait for the next few weeks for the Chicago Bears training camp to fire up, we are going to take a look at the Windy City Gridiron Dynasty league, review the rookie draft that took place, and analyze the 14 rosters in the league.
If you missed the original introductory article on the league, you can check that out here.
This article will look at each team’s draft and how I, as a veteran dynasty player, feel they fared in the draft.
With this league, teams need a full roster of players at every position (even kickers and...

The Bears have signed tight end Sam Roush to his four-year rookie deal, the team announced on Friday.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report that the deal will be worth $7.35 million over the course of Roush’s four seasons. The signing of Roush, the No. 69 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, marks the Bears’ final rookie contract having been finalized for the 2026 season.
Roush, a second-team All-ACC member for Stanford in 2025, had the fifth-highest PFN TE Impact Score in the FBS last season at 83.9. His 49 receptions marked the fifth-most among all tight...

I don’t think I’ve ever had a tight end this high on my 10 Most Important Chicago Bears list. Then again, the Bears have never had a tight end of Colston Loveland’s caliber since I’ve been writing about the beloved.
Loveland can line up anywhere on the field, and he can do anything a Y tight end can do and anything an F tight end can do. He unlocks so much in Ben Johnson’s offense because of that, and The Athletic’s Ted Nguyen recently named him one of the ten most versatile players in the NFL.
The era of...

The NFL is spending the summer releasing its top 100 players of 2025. So far, they’ve released about 30 players and we know the only Chicago Bears player so far is Montez Sweat who was ranked at 91.
But here’s where it gets interesting: Jordan Love was unveiled today as the 72nd-best player in the league. My first reaction was, will NFL players rank Caleb Williams above Jordan Love?
Some people might have the reaction that Williams just may not be in the top 100 yet, but I would counter that with the fact that Bryce Young made the top...

Our next training camp battle may not be a battle at all, but any time a rookie is expected to start, there’s always an opportunity that a veteran starts in September and the rookie doesn’t start until later in the season.
When we approached the 2026 NFL Draft, everyone was pretty confident the Bears would be selecting a defensive player in the first round of the draft. Most were expecting the pick to be defensive line because there was an obvious need there. But there was another obvious need at safety, where the Bears let Kevin Byard and Jaquan Brisker...
Windy City Gridiron
The 2025 season was the type of storybook that most Chicago Bears fans had dreamed of over the last 15-plus years. Although it didn’t end in a Super Bowl parade, the strides made from an ineffective three-year tenure under former head coach Matt Eberflus to Year 1 of Ben Johnson were nothing short of impressive. Now comes the hard part: Sustained success.
Part of sustaining success is getting notable contributions from unlikely sources. Last year, the Bears had plenty of that. In fact, six of my 10 breakout candidates from last year did break out indeed. For as fun as...

The latest Bears Banter has dropped!
The legendary Linda Cohn recently announced her retirement from her 30+ year career at ESPN. She joined the Bears Banter podcast to talk about her legendary career, what it was like being a part of SportsCenter in the 1990s, and the popularity of the “This is SportsCenter” advertisements. But we didn’t ignore Chicago, she talked about what it was like covering Michael Jordan in the 1990s, her thoughts on Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson and the current direction of the Bears, and she even talked a little Blackhawks as well!
When we talked about...

The Chicago Bears didn’t do anything of significance at defensive end this offseason; instead, they are banking on third-year pro Austin Booker to provide a real complement to Montez Sweat.
Sweat is a pretty good football player. He was selected as a Pro Bowler a couple of years ago, and his head coach feels he’s coming off his best season yet, but the Chicago Bears need more than just him rushing off the edge in 2026.
They need the 23-year-old Booker to develop into a consistent and reliable threat, which is why he’s the most important defensive player on my...
