When head coach Mike Macdonald said on Monday that the Seattle Seahawks’ injury report “wasn’t as clean as we initially anticipated,” he wasn’t kidding.
Seattle’s initial injury report for its Week 3 home game against the New Orleans Saints runs nine players deep. The notable names to observe as running back Zach Charbonnet, outside linebacker Derick Hall, and right tackle Abe Lucas. Charbonnet did not practice due to a foot injury, whereas Hall got dinged up late against the Pittsburgh Steelers and was listed as limited with a hip injury, and Lucas was similarly limited with an elbow injury.
Rookie receiver Tory Horton, who was a question mark entering Week 1 with an ankle injury, has popped up with a groin issue but is listed as a limited participant.
The other DNPs for the Seahawks aside from Charbonnet are safety Julian Love, cornerback Devon Witherspoon, and rookie safety Nick Emmanwori. Witherspoon and Emmanwori were both out for the Steelers game but in with a chance to play against the Saints, whereas Love was on the injury report with a groin issue last week but now is on there with a hamstring injury.
Here’s the full injury report for the Seahawks, with their next practice scheduled for Thursday. You might sound the alarm bells if some of these DNPs from Wednesday are also DNPs on Thursday. It’s also worth noting this was a fully padded practice, of which there are limited opportunities for NFL teams to conduct those during the regular season.
