There was some wonder if Cincinnati Bengals’ quarterback Joe Burrow would have surgery today, as swelling was a concern.

However, head coach Zac Taylor confirmed with reporters today that the quarterback had a successful surgery and is now in recovery.

There has been some speculation about the initial three month return timetable as some think Burrow is more than likely done for the season. Taylor refused to rule out Burrow returning this season in a previous press conference.

Burrow suffered a Grade 3 turf toe injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first half of last week’s game. That means there was likely some sort of tear or structural damage to the toes main joint.

His return timetable might be a moot point depending on how backup quarterback Jake Browning does in Burrows’s place. The team is currently 2-0 and tied at the top of the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens.

It is a nice cushion, but the three month expected timetable for return covers 11 games. Can Browning keep them in the playoff race? And will Burrow actually be ready to return? That is what we will all have to wait and see.
