Your take on the Dolphins trading down or staying pat!
The Phinsider The Phinsider

Last week, I discussed how some fans supported our Miami Dolphins trading down in the first round to acquire extra picks. Many other fans would prefer the team to stay at 13 to maximize the overall talent level of their first-round pick. During this time of year, the usual wave of rumors—mostly proven to be false—also suggests both ideas with various possible outcomes. These are all just wild guesses until we see how the draft unfolds with the preceding picks and who might fall or be taken off the board sooner than anticipated.

I then asked the following question:

Would you like to see the Dolphins trade out their 13th overall pick to add more picks, and what would you hope to receive in return? Would you also possibly be in favor of trading down more than one time in more than one round in an attempt to add as many picks as possible (ala the New England Patriots of old), or do you believe that in most rounds, it would serve the team better to stay pat in most or all rounds and pick the best possible player available?

I also posted a poll with the following question:

Would you like to see your Miami Dolphins trade down from their 13th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft?

The results are as follows-

  • 51% or 203 of you chose- Yes, this team needs all the picks and talent it can add.
  • 33% or 131 of you chose- No, please draft the best talent available at 13.
  • 16% or 62 of you chose- No, unless some team offers a stupid, cannot refuse kind of a deal in return.

Below are some of your thoughts and answers to the question of the day-

MIAMI235 wants to trade down. I think that’s what that means...

Down, down, down….

DalFinsFan wants Grier to stop screwing around.

CG likes to move all over the draft so he can play “I’m the smartest GM in the league” but it rarely works out positively. How about he just let the draft come to him this year and pick BPA since we need players at every position.

Miami7 prefers to stay at 13 if you believe a player available there will be a surefire star or game-changing type. If not, consider trading down.

The chances of attaining a generational talent - (who’s the last Miami draft pick we’d ably say that about...X? Or all the way back to Zach/JT?)...no matter what one’s opinion on that....it’s too far & in between. They (one player) change/influence SO many things, as a rarity able to affect as much as two others, lift those around him. The best ‘chance’ to get a generational talent is to draft as early as conviction that he’s the guy allows. If ya believe in a guy ‘enough’ take him. If yer on the fence trade out.

Get two guys that solidify in whatever ways they...
