Following this weekend’s preseason game against the Detroit Lions, I asked the following question:
Did you see what you were looking for or hoping to see from the Miami Dolphins in this afternoon’s game? Where were the improvements and or regressions by the Dolphins that you saw in today’s game? What, if anything, about today’s game and what you saw disappointed you? What did you see in today’s game that you were happy to see or pleasantly surprised to see? In general, did you come away from this game feeling better or worse about the 2025 version of your Miami Dolphins?
Below are some of your thoughts and answers-
TheRoo1 is ready to see those cuts already. There are also concerns about the secondary and OL depth.
In years past, teams made a first round of cuts on the Monday or Tuesday after the second preseason game. It would bode well for McD to do that now, he has at least 10 or 15 that he already knows wont make the team or squad, cut them now to give more reps to the ones you really want to look at.
I still see the O line as the biggest concern. Sav is a rookie and mistakes will be made, it’s part of the process. But the rest of the line still has issues. Paul was in for about a third of the team snaps last year, only drew a couple of penalties but is still learning. The others have injury histories that lend concern. This team only works when Tua is vertical, keeping him that way should be priority one.
The DB’s issues are still too murky to call. The starters may not be starters anywhere else in the league. But with Minkah playing center field, they may be able to be more aggressive knowing he has their back. We havent yet seen which Minkah we have 2021 or the 2023 version. If the former, the secondary could be serviceable.
Ewers is a hope for me. I really want the kid to excel, and he showed tremendous growth yesterday. On Wilson, Call it superstition or whatever, but The Jest seem like a place where QB’s go to be ruined and taking their castoff’s just doesn’t seem like a good idea.
Wildfin22 liked the improvement that they saw.
Saw improvement from Ewers. Wilson was about the same as last week.DL,LBs looked better in the second half. DBs still struggled except for the game winner int. OL didn’t seem to improve but I wasn’t really watching them as closely.Overall I think they played a tad bit better today.Looks like the backups played better than years before.
Dolphinsfan2021 has a trade proposal.
Seems like Dolphins have some good young OLB why not get them on the field and trade Chubb for a starting CB? We all know this roster isnt taking the team anywhere and without one good CB won’t win many games....
