Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Cam Ward had an ice-cold response to a reporter’s question about Will Levis’ season-ending injury.

There was no question that Cam Ward was Tennessee’s starting quarterback after they took him first overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. But Ward’s status as the Week 1 starter was all but confirmed when the Titans announced Monday that Levis will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday morning, Ward was asked about his “reaction” to the news that Levis will miss all of 2025. Let’s just say that the former Miami Hurricanes star didn’t mince words.

“I really didn’t have a reaction. I focus on Cam Ward,” the No. 1 pick said.

Ruthless: Titans rookie QB Cam Ward was asked how he reacted to the news that Will Levis was being ruled out for the 2025 season.

Widely projected to be a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Will Levis slipped to the Titans in round two at No. 33 overall. He started 21 games over his first two seasons, losing 16 of 21 starts and throwing 21 touchdowns against 16 interceptions.

Most expected the Titans to take Cam Ward with the No. 1 pick leading up to the draft. Surprisingly, another QB wouldn’t go until No. 25, when the New York Giants traded up via the Houston Texans to select Ole Miss standout Jaxson Dart.

With Levis out for the season, Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle will battle it out for the QB2 job behind Ward.

Cam Ward Will Make NFL Debut At Denver Broncos On Sept. 7

The 23-year-old Ward will be tested early in his NFL career, with the Titans set to visit the Denver Broncos in the season opener on Sept. 7. Denver made the postseason with a 10-7 record, anchored by a stingy defense that allowed the third-fewest points per game (18.3).

Ward will face a defense featuring reigning Defensive Player of the Year Patrick Surtain II, meaning top receiver Calvin Ridley will likely have a quiet day on the field. So yes, it will be a tough test for Ward to begin his career.
