We have the first postgame report about the injury suffered by wide receiver Xavier Worthy when he collided with tight end Travis Kelce on the third offensive play of Friday night’s season opener between the Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the injury is a dislocated shoulder — and it is possible that Worthy could return to play in a brace.
Rapaport, however, had a caveat: tests are still ongoing. So this is probably not the final word on Worthy’s situation.
You’ll recall that when wide receiver Hollywood Brown sustained a shoulder injury in the first preseason game of 2024, it was more than a month before we had a clear understanding about how serious it was — and how much time he would miss.
On Monday, the Chiefs will begin their preparations for the Week 2 home matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. Kansas City head coach Andy Reid is scheduled to speak with reporters. We can be certain he’ll be asked about Worthy’s injury, but it could be a while before we have solid information about it.
