The Patriots could look to add another playmaker before the Nov. 4th NFL trade deadline. WEEI’s Meghan Ottolini thinks New England could reunite with a former player.
Ottolini detailed “six potential trade targets” for the Patriots, and among them was Las Vegas Raiders receiver Jakobi Meyers.
“Meyers’ relationship with the Patriots ties back to current offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels,” Ottolini wrote on Tuesday. “He maintained his public support for McDaniels after things ended poorly in Vegas and has since requested a trade before the start of the 2025 season. His production isn’t quite where it was in 2024, but he has posted the best yards-after-catch stats of his entire career through six games (4.9, compared to 3.4 average last year).”
Meyers spent his first four NFL seasons with the Patriots and recorded 235 receptions for 2,758 yards and eight touchdowns in 60 games.
The 28-year-old receiver left New England in 2023, signing a three-year, $33 million deal with Las Vegas.
Meyers is in the final year of his contract. If the Patriots trade for him, they may not have to give up much since he could be a half-season rental.
