Pro Football Rumors
Wide receiver Stefon Diggs continued to post quality numbers in 2025, the 11th year of his career, but the four-time Pro Bowler has been sitting on the open market since the Patriots released him in March. Now, with training camp a couple of weeks away, Diggs is generating interest. There are five-plus teams that recently checked in on the 32-year-old, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports.

The identities of the clubs that are considering Diggs are unknown, though the Ravens, Chiefs and Commanders came up as rumored suitors during the spring. The Ravens and Commanders have location on their side if they pursue Diggs, a Gaithersburg, Md., native who played his college ball at the University of Maryland.
The Commanders have been linked to the 49ers’ Brandon Aiyuk more than any other potential receiver addition, but he hasn’t played since tearing his ACL, MCL and meniscus in October 2024. Worsening matters, Aiyuk has shown a pattern of bizarre behavior during the rehab process. After largely staying away from the 49ers last year, Aiyuk has taken recent shots at them on social media. Although Aiyuk is still under contract, he declared earlier this month that he is done with the organization. For their part, the 49ers have not been in any hurry to release the 28-year-old.
Eventually landing in Washington would reunite Aiyuk with quarterback Jayden Daniels, with whom he formed a good relationship at Arizona State, but the wideout may have burned that bridge. Aiyuk quickly went from lobbying to join the Commanders to publicly bashing Daniels.
Like Aiyuk, Diggs suffered a major knee injury in October 2024. Then a member of the Texans, Diggs went down with a season-ending ACL tear. Undeterred, the Patriots gave Diggs a three-year, $69MM deal in free agency in March 2025. The move paid off for New England, which got a full and productive season from Diggs. The 6-foot, 191-pounder led the team in targets (102), catches (85) and yards (1,013). He also added four touchdowns, helping the Patriots shockingly improve from 4-13 to 14-3 in a one-year span.
The Pats rattled off three more playoff victories en route to an AFC title, but they were no match for the Seahawks in a 29-13 loss in Super Bowl LX. A few weeks later, they released Diggs. Doing so saved the Patriots $16.8MM and paved the way for them to add two new starters, A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs. They also dodged a possible suspension for Diggs, who was potentially facing NFL discipline stemming from an alleged incident with his former personal chef.
Diggs was up against strangulation and assault charges when New England cut ties, but a Boston jury acquitted him on May 5. The league decided on June 12 that there was not enough evidence to suspend Diggs, who appears to be gaining steam in free agency a month later.
