Vikings fans were greeted to good news by Kevin O’Connell when the head coach fielded questions from the media.

Per KOC, star wideout Justin Jefferson is expected to return to practice in some capacity this week. Jefferson has missed most of camp with a lingering hamstring injury but it looks as though he’s finally turning a corner.

“(Jefferson) will begin to take part in practice,” O’Connell told reporters. “It’ll be kind’ve a ramp-up. You’ll see him take part in bits and pieces of it from here, but he will officially be back to work and ramp up from here.”

Jefferson’s hamstring injury was first reported on July 25 with the ailment being described as “minor.” Seeing as it’s been roughly three weeks since that report and Jefferson is just now returning to practice, it’s safe to say that the description wasn’t all that true or that the team (rightfully so) went with the cautious route regarding their best player.

Of course we won’t see Jefferson until the regular season opener against the Bears, but fans will be happy to have him suited up and back on the field, regardless of how much he’s doing in practice each day.
