Sixth-year vet could be offensive weapon for New Orleans.
The New Orleans Saints are hosting wide receiver Gabe Davis for a visit, per Ian Rapoport. Rapoport mentions that Davis also had a recent visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but options are still open as he searches for a new deal.
The veteran WR is coming off of his worst statistical season of his career in 2024 with the Jacksonville Jaguars in which he suffered a season-ending meniscus tear and only managed to play in ten games. Although his recovery process seems to be going well, there is going to be some concern with how impactful he can be post-injury.
Davis, a 6’2”, 225lb. receiver, would provide more frame in the current room of wideouts for New Orleans. At this point, the Saints have just four wideouts listed 6’2” or taller on the roster. Even with speed and versatility continuing to be a focal point for the offense, adding another reliable pass catcher with size would not hurt one bit.
Prior to his time in Jacksonville, Davis spent the first four years of his career where he was drafted in Buffalo. Since entering the league in 2020, Davis has recorded nearly 200 receptions and 3,000 yards. Having spent time with a playoff-caliber team like the Bills, Davis could provide a lot more in the locker room with leadership and experience especially for such a young and undeveloped quarterback room.
