The period leading up to training camps often sees veteran free agents join a new team. DeAndre Hopkins is unsigned at this point, but he is not in a hurry to line up his next contract.

Hopkins spent 2025 in Baltimore. He expressed a willingness to stay with the Ravens early in the offseason, but the team wound up adding a pair of rookie receivers via the draft. Hopkins has since made public his interest in reuniting with Kyler Murray by joining the Vikings and playing alongside Joe Burrow with the Bengals in 2026. Nothing is imminent on those fronts, or any others, at this time.

“Going into year 14, I would love to play for a competitor if that time came,” Hopkins said during an interview on Sirius XM radio (video link). “I’m not in no rush to go out and be a regular-season superstar because for me, I’m not getting a contract extension.”

Hopkins noted he is not trying to “force” a deal with any teams at this point. That stance is of course coupled with the tepid market which has existed so far this offseason, but a patient approach comes as no surprise. Hopkins has generated a decorated and lucrative career in the NFL across 13 seasons. He has yet to win a Super Bowl, though, so targeting a contender represents a logical goal.

At the age of 34, Hopkins is not in line to receive a multiyear commitment from his next team. The five-time Pro Bowler posted career-worst totals in 2025 while playing in a limited role in Baltimore. He remained effective in the redzone and on third down when targeted, however, and playing a role in that capacity can be expected moving forward.

Other accomplished receivers like Stefon Diggs, Keenan Allen and Deebo Samuel are also on the market at this time. They are likely to sign during the summer, and it will be interesting to see how Hopkins fits into the veteran market closer to the start of the 2026 season.
