Steel City Blitz
The WPIAL football season has just two weeks remaining. Last week, Fort Cherry became the first team to clinch a conference title when they defeated Bishop Canevin. The other 16 conference champions are still to be decided. In total, 13 playoff spots have been clinched so far with many more still to be decided plus the Wild Cards chosen by the Selection Committee. In 6A, the top four teams will make the playoffs. In 4A, only the top two teams in each conference are guaranteed playoff spots with two more earning Wild Cards. In the other four classifications, the top three in each conference are guaranteed playoff spots with a few additional Wild Cards.

– Woodland Hills has clinched a playoff spot
– Penn-Trafford clinches a playoff spot with a win over Armstrong
Northeast
– Pine-Richland has clinched a playoff spot
– Pine-Richland clinches the conference title if BOTH Penn Hills and Shaler lose
– Penn Hills clinches a playoff spot with a win over North Hills
– Shaler clinches a playoff spot with a win over Fox Chapel AND a North Hills loss
Big Six
– Trinity clinches the conference title with a win over Laurel Highlands
– Thomas Jefferson clinches a playoff spot with a win over Chartiers Valley
Greater Allegheny
– McKeesport clinches the conference title with a win over Indiana
– Mars clinches a playoff spot with a win over Hampton AND an Indiana loss
– Hampton clinches a playoff spot with a win over Mars AND losses by both West Mifflin and Indiana
