WPIAL 2025 Week 7 Playoff Scenarios

The WPIAL football season has entered the final third and playoff races are in full swing. Last week, Pine-Richland became the first team to clinch a spot in the postseason. In 6A, the top four teams will make the playoffs. In 4A, only the top two teams in each conference are guaranteed playoff spots with two more earning Wild Cards. In the other four classifications, the top three in each conference are guaranteed playoff spots with a few additional Wild Cards. Here’s a look at the playoff scenarios for Week 7.

– Central Catholic clinches a playoff spot with a win over Norwin
– North Allegheny clinches a playoff spot with a win over Canon-McMillan

5A Playoff Scenarios

– Woodland Hills clinches a playoff spot with a win over Gateway AND a Kiski loss

Northeast

– Pine-Richland has clinched a playoff spot
– North Hills clinches a playoff spot with a win over Shaler

No clinching scenarios (Imani and Highlands would have 3-way tie scenarios involving Burrell even if Highlands beats Burrell).

– Elizabeth Forward clinches a playoff spot with a win over Yough
– Southmoreland clinches a playoff spot with a win over Mt. Pleasant AND a Greensburg Salem loss
– Mt Pleasant clinches a playoff spot with a win over Southmoreland AND a Derry loss

Western Hills

No clinching scenarios

2A Playoff Scenarios

Allegheny

No clinching scenarios (Shady Side plays a non-conference game, so 3-way tie scenarios would still be in play for the winner of Apollo-Ridge vs South Allegheny)

Century

– Washington clinches a playoff spot with a win over Charleroi
– Seton LaSalle plays a non-conference game but can clinch a playoff spot with a Waynesburg loss

Midwestern

– Western Beaver clinches a playoff spot with a win over Mohawk AND a New Brighton loss

1A Playoff Scenarios

Big Seven

– Laurel clinches a playoff spot with a win over Shenango AND a Summit Academy loss
– The South Side-Neshannock winner clinches a playoff spot if Summit Academy loses

Black Hills

– Fort Cherry clinches a playoff spot with a win over Bishop Canevin
– Bishop Canevin clinches playoff spot with a win over Fort Cherry AND a Monessen loss
