The Saints worked out a trio of players during their minicamp last week, including a veteran special teamer. According to Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.football, the team hosted wideout/returner Steven Sims.

The former UDFA out of Kansas has bounced around throughout his career, spending time with seven teams. Sims showed some offensive promise early in his career, hauling in 61 catches across his rookie and sophomore campaigns. In the five seasons since, he’s been limited to 17 receptions.

Sims has continued to see a role on special teams, especially as a returner. His most recent full-time gig came in 2022, when he returned 17 kickoffs and 19 punts for the Steelers. He got into three games with the Cardinals in 2025, returning 10 kickoffs for 236 yards.

In addition to Sims, the Cardinals also auditioned QB Hunter Dekkers and WR Tay Martin. Dekkers, who spent much of his rookie season on the Saints practice squad, has since re-signed with the organization. Martin, who has three catches in four seasons, has since signed with the Lions.

  • The UFL reported tonight that a handful of players earned recentworkouts with NFL teams. Notably, the Cowboys hosted half of the list: LB Micah Baskerville, RB Deon Jackson, and LB Curtis Jacobs. Jackson is the most notable name of the bunch, as the former Colts UDFA collected 445 yards from scrimmage as a sophomore. He bounced around the NFL after his stint in Indy, but he’s emerged as a star in the UFL. He finished this past year as the league leader in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. The Cowboys have already been active diving into the UFL pool, as the organization recently signed WR Denzel Mims, CB Ameer Speed, and OL Chris Glaser.
  • There were a handful of additional UFL workouts: WR Cornell Powell (Lions), LB Brandon Smith (Bears), and DE Xavier Carlton (Falcons). Smith brings the most NFL experience of the bunch. The former fourth-round pick got into 12 games with the Panthers as a rookie, when he tallied eight tackles while garnering the majority of his snaps on special teams.
