Not a lot of people know the Cincinnati Cougars existed before today.
It turns out that they play in the Women’s Football Alliance (WFA), which is the longest-running and most competitive women’s tackle football league in the world, as they described it.
The community is certainly behind them, as UC Health partnered with them last month to ensure they’re getting the care they need.
“Cincinnati Cougars, we’re a force to be reckoned with,” said Linebacker Liz Martini.
“We’re in our third season. We won the championship last year, moved up divisions. We’re on the way.”
The ladies are competitive, but they also face a lack of access to treatment for sports injuries.
Now, thanks to doctors at UC Health, female athletes in Cincinnati are getting the care they need.
Thousands of other people are finding out about the Cincinnati Cougars this week.
One video showed the ladies in uniform and engaging in other activities.

“I also think it’s incredibly lame, but they’re not hurting anyone. I honestly don’t see what the harm is here. We’re going to marginalize them for being cringe? SGA’s out there falling anytime anyone looks at him in the NBA finals, and that’s getting celebrated right now,” one fan said about the group.
