Cooper Kupp did something rare (for him) when he failed to haul in a reception in Week 15

Cooper Kupp didn’t catch a single pass for the Los Angeles Rams last week against the San Francisco 49ers, and although the Rams got the win it was surprising to see Kupp held to zero catches. Will that change this Sunday against the New York Jets?

In 102 games, Kupp has failed to catch a pass in only three of them.

It happened in 2018 vs the Denver Broncos a game in which he was injured. It happened again in 2019 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and both of those games’ featured quarterback Jared Goff. So, this past week against the 49ers was the first time Kupp failed to catch a pass with Matthew Stafford slinging the rock.

Considering Kupp has caught passes in over 97% of his games it’s more than likely a safe bet that the former Super Bowl MVP comes up with something in his stat line Sunday. However, the reality is that Kupp is so talented that he does impact the game in other ways via his blocking and his ability to draw coverage.

That doesn’t help fantasy football players, or anyone who bets the over on Kupp receptions, but that doesn’t matter to the Rams. They just want to win.

Suffice to say, yes. History has shown Cooper Kupp should catch a pass this coming contest. History has also shown that you never know what will happen in the NFL until it happens.

As likely as it is that #10 gets back in the reception column against the Jets, there is also the possibility that Kupp starts a new streak in his NFL career: Back-to-back games without a catch.
