In a room full of 3-techs, a true 1-tech stands out

The Buffalo Bills have revamped their defensive line this offseason, but that doesn’t mean every face in the room is new. While some of the names up front on defense are familiar, there are others who may have been added at different points last season and therefore are less familiar to fans. These players may have played preseason games with the team or filled in at different times throughout the regular season.

Sometimes, those practice-squad players are destined to remain in that role with the team. Sometimes, those guys move on and fine greener pastures elsewhere. And, sometimes, those practice-squad players rise up and claim roles on the 53-man roster.

In today’s installment of our “90 players in 90 days” series, we discuss one such player from the 2024 Bills’ practice squad.

Name: Zion Logue
Number: 93
Position: DT
Height/Weight: 6’6”, 314 pounds
Age: 24 (25 on 7/13/2026)
Experience/Draft: 1; selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the sixth round (No. 197 overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft
College: Georgia
Acquired: Signed with Bills on 10/1/2024

Financial situation (per Spotrac): Logue signed a reserve/future contract at the end of last season, a deal worth $2.039 million over two years. For the 2025 season, Logue carries a cap hit of $962,000 if he makes the 53-man roster. The Bills are on the hook for a dead-cap charge of $4,000 if he’s released.

2024 Recap: Logue spent the offseason and preseason with the Atlanta Falcons, playing in three preseason games and totaling three tackles. He was released by the Falcons at the end of the exhibition season and signed to their practice squad.

On October 1, the Bills signed Logue to their active roster from Atlanta’s practice squad, and he appeared in Buffalo’s next two games. In his pro debut against the Houston Texans on October 6, Logue had two tackles. He played the following week against the New York Jets, but he did not register on the stat sheet.

Those were the only two games Logue played, as he was released on November 7 and subsequently signed to Buffalo’s practice squad. In the two games he played, Logue logged around one-fourth of the team’s defensive snaps. He remained with Buffalo’s practice squad through the end of their season.

Positional outlook: Logue is one of nine defensive tackles on the current roster. T.J. Sanders, Ed Oliver, DeWayne Carter, DaQuan Jones, Marcus Harris, Deone Walker, Larry Ogunjobi, and Casey Rogers are the others.

2025 Offseason: Logue is healthy and participating in offseason work to date.

2025 Season outlook: Logue is an extremely long long-shot to make the 53-man roster, as the team already has more bodies than it can reasonably handle at the position. While there’s no comparing his production — and there’s arguably not much comparison about their athleticism, either — it’s hard to ignore the similarities in Logue’s build to teammate DaQuan Jones.
