The Philadelphia Eagles are officially Super Bowl champions for the first time since the 2017 season.
They took down Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in dominant fashion, owning the game from the jump and never looking back.
Jalen Hurts was masterful and mistake-free besides his interception in the first quarter, but the Eagles’ defense was the bigger story in this contest.
As Ari Meirov pointed out on X, Mahomes dropped back 42 times during this game, but the Eagles didn’t blitz once.

Mahomes was uncomfortable all game, largely because the Eagles’ defenders were winning their matchups against the Chiefs’ offensive line.
Even though Mahomes has plenty of experience in the Super Bowl and hasn’t folded under the pressure of the spotlight, he couldn’t overcome the Eagles’ dominant defense and pass rush, who didn’t even need to blitz to have success.
This will be a case study for the Chiefs in the offseason and a lesson to other teams across the league.
You can have one of the greatest quarterbacks in league history under center, but if they’re facing a deficit due to a strong defense on the other side of the ball, it’s nearly impossible for them to have success.
The Eagles’ defense is made up of a combination of veteran and young players, and they don’t appear to be going anywhere in the near future.
If they can keep this up in the 2025 campaign, they’ll be a tough team to stop and a favorite to come out of the NFC for years to come.
