Things feel tense around the Baltimore Ravens as the 2025 season goes on. A strange rumor has begun circulating about head coach John Harbaugh and quarterback Lamar Jackson. It hints at possible issues between the two and has fans wondering what the future holds for a team that began the year with Super Bowl expectations.
The Ravens are 6-7 heading into Sunday’s game against the Bengals. They once looked back on track after winning five straight games, but that run ended on Thanksgiving. Since then, the defense has struggled again, the offense has slowed down, and attention has shifted to Lamar Jackson and his connection with Harbaugh.
Jackson hasn’t looked like himself lately. Over his last two games, he has thrown just one touchdown and two interceptions. He has also battled injuries all season, including hamstring and toe problems. On Wednesday, the team listed him as a rest day, which caught people’s attention and added fuel to the rumors.
FS1 host Nick Wright added fuel to the conversation on “The Bill Simmons Podcast.” He openly questioned the connection between Jackson and Harbaugh.
“Can somebody please report on whether or not Lamar Jackson and John Harbaugh even talk to each other?” Wright said. “This is the weirdest story in the league.” He pointed to past injury timelines. Wright noted, “Every time Lamar Jackson has suffered an injury in his career, John Harbaugh has had one timeline about when Lamar is going to play and Lamar has had a totally different one.”
Wright then delivered his strongest take. “I think Lamar’s checked out.”
No report confirms a rift inside the Ravens locker room. Baltimore has shown no public desire to move on from Harbaugh. Still, outside noise continues to grow. NFL insider Josina Anderson recently shared a notable update as the league nears coaching carousel season.
“Keeping tabs as we approach Carousel season,” Anderson said. Then she added, “League sources are eyeing five more NFL teams with projected openings at head coach, as of where things stand today, while waiting to collect more data on a 6th team too, Meanwhile, there’s is a longtime NFL head coach out there who is considering wanting a change of scenery & has told others of these thoughts.”
Anderson did not name Harbaugh, however, people around can easily understand.
Harbaugh has led the Ravens since 2008. He has delivered a Super Bowl title and steady success. This season has tested that run. Injuries, losses, and frustration now shape the story.
For now, the Ravens focus on the Bengals. Wins could quiet the talks. Losses will only make the rumors louder.
