Denver Broncos placekicker Wil Lutz has been named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for October. Denver was a perfect 4-0 in October and a lot of that was due to Lutz’s outstanding play. He made every field goal and extra point attempt in all four games and also connected on the game-winning kick against the furious comeback against the New York Giants.

In terms of ‘lead-changing’ field goal kicks, Lutz had a total of two. Aside from that game-winner, he also booted the lead-changing field goal against the New York Jets in the fourth quarter that ultimately decided the game. Lutz was also the only AFC kicker to hit two field goals of 55-yards or more against both the Jets and Philadelphia Eagles.

Surprisingly, the Denver Broncos do not get many recipients for this AFC Special Teams Player of the Month award. Lutz is the first — and only — Broncos’ player to win the award twice joining Matt Prater who won the award in 2009 and 2011. Lutz is also the only Broncos’ player to win the award since 2015 having done it in both 2023 and now in 2025. Brandon McManus was previously the last player to win the award in 2015.
