New England Patriots legend Tom Brady has been flexing his broadcasting muscles this season. On Sunday, Brady will be in the booth again, this time for the San Francisco 49ers-Los Angeles Rams game.

Where Brady really should be on Sunday, though, is Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, where the Buccaneers will be taking on the Pats in an epic clash between two first-place teams.

Why didn’t FOX realize that Brady announcing this game makes so much sense? It’s the two teams Brady played for (and won Super Bowls with) facing off. It’s also a QB battle of humongous proportions that Brady would have been uniquely qualified to weigh in on, considering he himself factors into the career narrative of both quarterbacks.

On one hand, you have Drake Maye in New England, who has overcome the impossible-to-fill shoes left behind by Brady and carved out his own identity in just his second season. Maye is playing at an MVP level through nine weeks, and it would have been fascinating to hear Brady wax poetic about Maye’s rapid development as his successor in New England.

Then there’s Baker Mayfield, another MVP candidate in 2025 who has become Brady’s rightful successor in Tampa. Brady on the mic for either of these quarterbacks would have been great TV, and the fact that he isn’t calling the game where they are playing each other is a huge missed opportunity.

No one expected the Patriots to be this good in 2025, and the Bucs have also been a bit better than expected. Brady’s schedule was probably set up at an earlier date. Still, you think FOX could have moved some stuff around and made this happen.
