For the seventh time in eight years, Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs eclipsed the 1,000-yard receiving threshold.
This one, however, was the “most meaningful,” according to the four-time Pro Bowler.
“People see all the hard work you put in and the daily struggles that people have. People go through (expletive) — the ups and downs,” Diggs told reporters after New England’s 38-10 victory over the Dolphins at Gillette Stadium on Sunday, per MassLive’s Mark Daniels.
“I kept grinding, stayed focused,” Diggs continued. “To hit another 1,000 yards, I’ve done it before, but this is probably the most meaningful one I’ve ever had. Just because coming off of injury.”
Diggs finished the season with 85 receptions on 102 targets for 1,013 yards receiving. He scored four touchdowns in 17 regular-season games.
The 32-year-old Diggs is the first Patriots receiver to finish with 1,000 or more receiving yards since Julian Edelman did it in 2019. It’s an impressive feat for the team and for Diggs, who tore his Achilles in October 2024 but made a full recovery before training camp.
“People just don’t know, coming off an ACL (injury) and getting your confidence back, being around the right people, they’re pushing you every day,” Diggs told reporters. “I’m so thankful God is good, God is amazing. I’m going to enjoy this.”
Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel credited Diggs for his attentiveness and leadership behind the scenes.
“There’s an energy to him,” Vrabel told reporters, per the team. “He’s been out there. He’s been available. He’s taking care of his body. Then the production has been fantastic. I’m glad that we have him.”
Diggs is among the shortlist of Patriots veterans with playoff experience. He’s caught 69 receptions for 909 yards and four touchdowns in 14 playoff games. Chances are Diggs will be tasked to step up in a big way when Drake Maye and company host the Los Angeles Chargers at Gillette Stadium next weekend.
