Julian Edelman has seen promising signs from the New England Patriots to start the 2025 season.

The wide receiver addressed the current state of the team before getting inducted into the franchise’s Hall of Fame on Saturday, per CLNS Media. Edelman feels better about the offense following a Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins.

“I’m excited with where the offense is going,” Edelman said.

Edelman was particularly impressed by the Patriots converting seven of 12 third-down opportunities and scoring on three of four red-zone visits at Miami. However, the three-time Super Bowl champion also urged patience as the unit learns a new system under head coach Mike Vrabel and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.

“They definitely look like they improved from Week 1 to Week 2,” Edelman said. “I think it’s gonna be a long process. Rome wasn’t built overnight.”

While Edelman anticipates an improvement from last season’s 4-13 campaign, he’s not guaranteeing a playoff berth just yet.

“I expect them to do big things,” he said. “Now making the playoffs, I don’t know, but I don’t think it’s a bad year if they don’t.”

Edelman previously said Drake Maye looked “a little jumpy” during New England’s Week 1 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. The ex-wideout saw significant progress from the second-year quarterback in Week 2.

“He’s looking a lot more comfortable to me,” Edelman said. “He’s looking like he’s processing. He’s looking like he’s throwing with his feet under him.”

New England’s defense hasn’t dominated thus far, but Edelman expects that group to grow under Vrabel throughout the season.

“I think they’re gonna get better as the year goes,” Edelman said. “That’s kind of always the rap with Vrabes’ defenses, back at least when they were Tennessee. They’re always tough. So, I’m excited for them.”
