Cam Skattebo botched a backflip in New York while attending Fanatics Fest over the weekend. That failed trick horrified the Giants‘ fanbase, which is hoping to see the running back return from an ankle injury.

While most viewed the flip as idiotic, teammate Jaxson Dart had a different outlook. He loved what he saw. Skattebo’s rehab seems to be moving along nicely.

Skattebo is about eight months removed from a season ending setback that sidelined him for 10 weeks. During a late October matchup with the Eagles, he dislocated his ankle and fractured his fibula after being tackled awkwardly. It was pretty gruesome. His foot was facing a direction it shouldn’t have been.

Jaxson Dart was crushed to see his rookie teammate’s season cut short. He is excited to see him return to the field in 2026.

While at Fanatics Fest in Manhattan, the tailback attempted a backflip. He missed the landing and fell to the ground. The entire fanbase collectively gasped.

Dart, meanwhile, saw a silver lining. Skattebo is close to being 100%.

“That’s the most explosive I’ve seen Skat,” the quarterback said. “He over-rotated.”

“I’m gonna address the elephant… I will NOT hurt myself before the season.”

Skattebo is nearing the end of his rehab timeline. The recovery was expected to take 6-9 months. He should be back for fall camp.

Dart thinks his teammate is close to full health. The backflip proves it. He is excited to get his offensive weapon back next year.

Cam Skattebo continues to scare Giants fans.

This is not his lone incident this offseason. He caught flak for a WWE appearance last November, just weeks after his ankle injury. He was unapologetic after the fact.

Aye, honestly if you don’t like that I’m having a good time while dealing with a tough time, then just go ahead and unfollow and casually move on. I’m not able to play football and have the fun I’ve been having my whole life so I am doing things outside the box trying to find…

Skattebo is coming off of an impressive debut season. The Arizona State product totaled more than 600 yards rushing and receiving through eight contests. He also found the endzone seven times.

While the injury cost him the last nine games of the year, he expects to return to full form for Year 2. He assured Giants fans that he will not re-injure himself in the offseason.

With that said, we probably shouldn’t expect his off-the-field antics to go away.
