The Patriots have surprised many this season with their rise. Nonetheless, former New England cornerback Ty Law isn’t caught off guard by head coach Mike Vrabel’s ability to get the team ready to fight for wins.

“I’m not surprised at Mike Vrabel,” Law said on Tuesday during WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show.” “I’m more surprised that the team responded, given that many people from last year are still here. You never know what to expect from a new coach. I had a lot of faith in Vrabel, but not so much in the team as a whole.”

Vrabel has established himself as one of the top head coaches in the NFL throughout his career. He served as the head coach of the Tennessee Titans from 2018 to 2023, consistently leading the team to winning seasons, finishing above .500 four times, and securing three playoff appearances across six years.

Vrabel led the Titans to considerable success, working primarily with quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who had an average career, and standout running back Derrick Henry. Therefore, it’s not surprising that in his first year in New England, Vrabel has already steered the team to a handful of victories with a young, talented quarterback like Drake Maye.

The Patriots are gearing up to take on the Titans this Sunday. Vrabel will undoubtedly try to send a strong message to his former team by clinching a victory, all while trying to maintain first place in the AFC East with a solid 5-2 record.
