In a report for Sports Illustrated, Gronkowski drew a parallel between Brown’s move to New England and Randy Moss’s legendary arrival in 2007.
“I would say it relates a little bit—two totally different players—but it relates a little bit to the Randy Moss situation,” Gronkowski explained.
He noted that both players arrived after perceived “down years” at their previous teams but still possess elite potential. “He’s still going to be a number one wide receiver; he can handle every pass thrown his way and make big plays. I think he’s in the perfect situation now to thrive.” Gronkowski emphasized that this move positions the Patriots back in the Super Bowl conversation, serving as the “cherry on top” of an aggressive roster overhaul.
Brown has not only brought elite talent to New England but has also quickly established himself as a leader in the locker room. According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, Brown made a noticeable impact within days of joining the team on June 1. While he started his first practice at the back of the line during drills, he quickly earned the respect of his teammates.
By the final OTA session, Brown was leading full-team stretches, a role he assumed with the encouragement of teammates such as DeMario “Pop” Douglas. His rapid transition from newcomer to vocal leader indicates that Brown is fully committed to embracing the Patriot Way.
