Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders are gunning for back-to-back wins when they visit the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field on Thursday for a primetime matchup.
The Commanders won their opening game versus the New York Giants, 21-6, with Daniels throwing for 233 yards and one touchdown and rushing for 68 yards on 11 carries.
Advanced analytics aren’t needed to presume that the Packers’ defense will zero in on him. When the 24-year-old quarterback was asked if he’s worried about facing Micah Parsons, he was casual with his response.
“He got paid a lot of money, so I would think so. (He got paid) for a reason, so, sure,” said Daniels with a smile, as shown in the video shared by The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala.
“You don’t let game-wreckers wreck the game, and, you know, you gotta keep an eye on him, and like I said, he got paid a lot of money for a reason. He’s a very good player.”

Meanwhile, Parsons, who signed a four-year, $188 milli0n deal with the Packers, said he’s not too concerned about defending Daniels despite the latter’s dual-threat ability.
“We got horse engines now. I don’t see anybody outrunning me from the edge and stuff. I’ve played them a bunch. He (Daniels) knows. It’s different, it’s different, you know what I mean?” said the 26-year-old defensive end in a video posted by USA Today’s Ryan Wood.
“For me, I don’t think it’s just pick and choose. I just make sure I get vertical if I’m going to an inside move and make sure he won’t outrun me.”
Parsons recorded a sack in his much-anticipated debut for Green Bay after he was traded by the Dallas Cowboys amid their acrimonious contract saga. The Packers also won in Week 1, beating the Detroit Lions, 27-13.
At such a young age, Daniels has displayed the composure normally seen in veteran quarterbacks. While Parsons is an aggressive enforcer, it’s tough to imagine the Commanders star getting fazed.
Also, with new targets in Deebo Samuel and Jacory Croskey-Merritt, Daniels has become even more dangerous.
