Welcome to Steelers Morning Rush, our new daily short-form podcast with Alan Saunders, giving a longer perspective on a single news topic surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers or the National Football League. Today, it’s the contributions of new Steelers receiver Mike Williams.
Since coming over from the New York Jets, Williams has played in two games for his new team, and has been targeted just once. That target was a 32-yard, game-winning touchdown against the Washington Commanders. So why did he not get a look the following week, despite playing way more snaps against the Baltimore Ravens than he had in his first game in Black and Gold?
Some of it has to do with Williams just getting himself acquainted with the Steelers offense, and not knowing as much of the offense as some of the other options for Arthur Smith, and some of it was with how the Ravens changed the plan of attack after seeing what Williams did on that big play against the Commanders.
Alan breaks it down.
