CROMWELL, Conn. — Adam Schefter is confident in the New England Patriots.

But Schefter’s belief isn’t strictly rooted in new head coach Mike Vrabel, nor offseason additions like well-paid defensive tackle Milton Williams, nor the potential of second-year quarterback Drake Maye. Schefter’s optimism is because all of the above.

“I think the arrow is pointing up,” Schefter told NESN.com at the Travelers Championship on Thursday. “I think Mike Vrabel is going to do a great job. They added a lot of good talent. Josh McDaniels is back. This team, with the quarterback it has, has an upward trajectory.”

Schefter was at TPC River Highlands as he joined the PGA Tour Live on ESPN+ broadcast. He walked the course and followed the star-studded group of World No. 2 Rory McIlroy and the hometown kid Keegan Bradley.

The well-known NFL insider received arguably more fanfare than anyone.

Schefter admitted to hearing plenty of cheers and friendly taunts from Patriots fans, who also showed out for the PGA Tour’s lone event in the Northeast.

“I would say there were a lot of Patriots fans out there asking about the over/under whether the Patriots would win 8.5 games this year,” Schefter said.

Based on the offseason Vrabel and company have put together, as well as the schedule that awaits New England in 2025, the optimism among Patriots fans is well-deserved.

Schefter believes it, too.
