With the preseason finale in the books, let’s take a look at who stood out this week for New Orleans.

The New Orleans Saints closed out the 2024 preseason with a 30-27 loss to the Tennessee Titans. Although the Saints’ receivers struggled with drops, rookie QB Spencer Rattler put his talent and poise on full display, while the run game looked promising as well.

This week’s breakout player took over in the second half of Sunday’s game, as he continued his fight for a roster spot in a crowded position group. The breakout player for the Saints’ preseason finale loss to the Titans is RB Jacob Kibodi.

The former Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns RB signed with the Saints as an UDFA following the 2024 NFL Draft. Kibodi has had a great training camp as he has showed off his elusiveness and playmaking abilities on a consistent basis. During Sunday’s game, Kibodi recorded 59 yards on 12 carries with two TDs, along with three runs of 10+ yards, five missed tackles forced, and four first-down conversions. Kibodi was running like a man on a mission, and certainly enhanced his chances of making the 53-man roster with Kendre Miller still out due to a hamstring injury. RBs Jordan Mims and James Robinson looked good as well on Sunday, though Kibodi stood out among the group.

Kibodi shared how much Sunday’s game meant to him, emphasizing that it’s every kid from Louisiana’s dream to score a touchdown for the New Orleans Saints. Kibodi was released by the team on Tuesday morning, however, the Saints should be able to bring him back on the practice squad. If not, Kibodi is a class act, and I wish him a successful NFL career.
