Inside The Star
Yes, you read that correctly, the Dallas Cowboys have a total of 22 pending free agents heading into the 2026 offseason.
16 of those 22 are unrestricted, meaning their contracts have expired and are completely free to negotiate and sign with any team in the league, with no compensation owed to the Dallas Cowboys.
With that said, I will drop all of those pending free agents here in a moment, and then I will get into the ones that I think Dallas should bring back for the 2026 season.
So 22 players will be a lot of names to list, so take a look at the photo right below this and it will show you all the players who are included.
This will include both restricted and unrestricted free agents.
As you can see, that there are a lot of players, a few that I will touch on here in a moment that I think are worth bringing back for 2026, but with two first round picks at no. 12 and no. 20 (Packers pick), some of these guys are worth letting walk.
On the offensive side of the ball, the two names that jump off right away that should be brought back are George Pickens and Javonte Williams; No questions asked.
The next who is more offense, even though he is a special teams guy, is Brandon Aubrey, who is another no-brainier.
He did struggle just a touch toward the end of the year on his longer kicks, but we have been so used to him never missing that we were all shocked when he hit a bit of a rough patch.
I am sure Jerry Jones loved those missed kicks though. It probably brought his contract down just a touch.
For me honestly, guys like Brock Hoffman and T.J Bass are both 50/50 on whether they should be brought back.
If they can get them at the right price, I would, only because they need depth badly on the offensive line, and who knows how that will look next season if one of the Tyler’s go down again.
You watched the defense play this year just like I did, and only two guys are going to be on this list for me to return; the rest can hit the open market just like Matt Eberflus.
He finished the season with 8.5 sacks in only six starts and played in 12 games. Clowney did not even sign with the team until week four. One of the first things they need to do is find a way to get Clowney to sign another one or maybe a two-year deal at a decent price.
Sam Williams, the other player on an expiring contract that I would entertain about bringing back.
Williams is not the greatest, but they need as many pass rushers that they can get even for depth if they draft one with one of their first round picks. (I don’t think...
