Where will Brendan Sorsby land in the Supplemental Draft? A consensus is forming

As Brendan Sorsby has declared for the NFL supplemental draft, it appears that consensus is forming about where he will land. Source B has been at the center of a huge controversy in college football due to sports gambling. The former Texas Tech quarterback admitted to placing wagers on several college football games during his time at Indiana, including dozens involving his own team.

Sorsby maintained that the bets were made in support of his teammates’ success. The NCAA later determined that betting activity from his 2022 redshirt freshman season violated its rules and ruled him ineligible, leading him to challenge the decision through the courts. A judge subsequently issued a temporary injunction that allowed Sorsby to remain eligible for the 2026 season while the case moved forward. Under the terms of the ruling, however, he was required to miss Texas Tech’s first two games. The NCAA later appealed the decision.

However, Sorsby declared for the supplemental draft after Texas Tech Board of Regents Chairman Cody Campbell declared on Monday evening that Sorsby would not be a part of Texas Tech in the fall. Now speculation on where he will fall in the supplemental draft has started to occur.

ESPN Senior NFL Reporter Jeremy Fowler reported that a consensus is growing about Sorsby’s positioning in the supplemental draft, should his application be accepted.

“But the chatter with Socrates in NFL circles is he’s probably a late first round talent. That’s how teams I’ve talked to looked at him, that if he was in April’s draft outright, he probably would’ve been in that Jaxson Dart range the previous year, somewhere in the mid to late 20s. That was the feeling. When I asked teams what they think his supplemental draft pick will be worth, the typical consensus is a second round pick, that they wouldn’t give up a first.”
