Wide receiver Chris Olave was diagnosed with a blood clot in his lung right before the final game of the 2025-26 season. He has not participated in any physical activity throughout the offseason, but it sounds like the New Orleans Saints star is finally nearing a return to action.

Reports indicate that the 25-year-old wideout will come off blood thinners on June 29, according to Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football. Olave will officially return at some point after the June 29 date, with his recovery process seemingly on time.

“Chris Olave gets off blood thinners on June 29, according to a source,” reported Underhill. “He’s avoiding contact for now and will be good to go after the 29th. Everything to this point is going exactly as planned.”

The blood clot was caught early enough that long-term damage will likely not take effect. It was found when Olave was experiencing pain in his ribs and back, making it difficult for him to sleep. After believing he was suffering a bruised rib, a CT Scan revealed it was a blood clot.

Chris Olave is coming off the best season of his career, despite missing Week 18 due to the unexpected health scare. The former first-round pick ended the 2025-26 season with 100 receptions, 1,163 yards, and nine touchdowns. All of which are career highs.

Once he returns, the four-year veteran will be rejoining a wide receiver room consisting of first-round rookie Jordyn Tyson and Devaughn Vele. Ja’Lynn Polk and rookies Bryce Lance and Barion Brown are projected to make a push for final roster spots, with Mason Tipton and several others in the mix.
