Recently, the tight end market began to move and it’s something Brock Bowers and the Las Vegas Raiders will be monitoring in the next year or so.
Bowers, the Raiders’ brilliant first-round draft pick in 2024, will be eligible for a contract extension next offseason, after his third NFL season. I would expect the Raiders to try to extend Bowers as soon as they are allowed to rather than hand his a fifth-year option. Bowers is a franchise player who the Raiders will want to retain for his entire career. There is no need to play games or delay extending him.
The only question is just how much Bowers will make.
The Atlanta Falcons just gave Kyle Pitts a three-year, $54 million extension and The Jacksonville Jaguars gave Brendan Strange a three-year, $48 million deal. Bowers will likely dwarf those contracts.
Tight ends such as Tucker Kraft of the Green Bay Packers, Sam LaPorta of the Detroit Lions and Dalton Kincaid of the Buffalo Bills could all soon get extension as well. So, Bowers and the Raiders will be watching those deals.
Right now, the top tight end contracts per year average belong to George Kuttle of the San Frnisico 49ers at $19.1 million a season and Trey McBride of the Arizona Cardinals at $19 millon a season.
I would think Bowers can hit the $20-22 million a season range within the next calander year. And he’ll be worth every penny of the deal.
