Sort of a surprising move.
On Wednesday, the Cincinnati Bengals announced the release of running back Zack Moss.
Moss, who came to Cincinnati as a free agent in 2024, started six games for the Bengals before a season-ending neck injury.
The emergence of Chase Brown, the reunion with Semaje Perine, and Tahj Brooks coming in via the draft clearly makes the Bengals think that is the running back room they can go into the season with, and Moss gets a chance to catch on elsewhere to find a bigger role.
Over the offseason, the Bengals and Moss agreed to a reworked contract that guaranteed him more money, and now, we know the camp impact of the release.
According to Spotrac, the Bengals will save around $1.25 million.
Not a significant cap savings, but it could make room for the Bengals to bring in a player at another position if they see fit.
Noah Fant recently visited, and the right guard position is still a battle. Could the move be to free cap space for Fant, Will Hernandez, or Dalton Risner?
