The Minnesota Vikings finally have a new general manager after firing Kwesi Adofo-Mensah. Minnesota hired Nolan Teasley as their next general manager on May 30th, bringing him over from Seattle. Now he faces the tough job of building Minnesota into a contender once again. It all starts with the quarterback position.

Teasley spoke honestly about the team’s quarterback situation after joining Minnesota.

“Asked his assessment of the Vikings’ QB situation, Nolan Teasley said his understanding is that the goal was ‘to build a deep and competitive quarterback room and I think that was executed,'” Teasley said on Wednesday, per ESPN’s Kevin Seifert.

The Vikings brought in veteran Kyler Murray to compete with J.J. McCarthy for the starting job in 2026. Minnesota also has veteran Carson Wentz and youngster Max Brosmer in reserve.

Teasley should understand the importance of the quarterback position better than most. After all, he saw how the Seahawks immediately won a Super Bowl after adding Sam Darnold last offseason.

Realistically, Minnesota has a lot more work to do than Seattle before they will be an NFC contender. But Vikings fans have room to hope if the team can get some consistent quarterback play in 2026.

The Vikings started three different quarterbacks (McCarthy, Wentz, Brosmer) during the 2025 season. That inconsistency at the game’s most important position held back the offense throughout the year.

Unfortunately, both of Minnesota’s top options this season have concerning injury histories.

Vikings fans already know how McCarthy struggled to stay healthy last year. The sophomore quarterback missed seven games with three separate injuries: a concussion, an ankle sprain, and a hairline fracture on his throwing hand.

Meanwhile, Murray missed 12 games for Arizona in 2025 after suffering a foot sprain in Week 5.

If neither player impresses in 2026, Teasley and the Vikings could be on the hunt for a new quarterback next offseason.
