Football season has arrived! Fans are beginning to make their plans for the season, whether that’s securing tickets for a game, preparing for tailgates in the Muni Lot, or planning watch parties with friends. The Cleveland Browns will play in their first preseason game tonight, which brings me to my question of the day.
What is your favorite location to watch a football game? Do you prefer watching from the stadium, from a bar, or from the comfort of your own home on the couch?
I have attended many Browns games in my life — home and away. Watching football games in person is exciting and it can be exhilarating to feed off the energy of the crowds; however, I only want to attend around 2-3 games in any given season.
It is challenging to see what is really happening down on the field when you are in the stadium. From a pure football perspective, watching from home on your couch is the best experience. You don’t have to deal with the weather, you don’t have to pay for overpriced beer and snacks, and most importantly, you get to watch the game through every camera angle on the broadcast. It is by far the most ideal watching experience.
Some enjoy the experience of a bar setting as a mixture of the stadium (with fellow fans) and home (with all the camera angles, less issues with parking).
